这是我写的第一篇gre作文，眼看还有20几天就要考了，怎么办呀:dizzy: 自己看自己写的，又看不出什么端倪，真诚的求拍，万分感谢！:)

"It is the artist, not the critic,* who gives society something of lasting value."

The speaker asserts that "It is the artist, not the critic, who gives society something of lasting value." In my point of view, it is both the artist who devotes his whole emotion and feeling to the work and the critic convey these values to the society that keep the lasting value of work.

In the first place, the artist who creates the art work is the most critical people who making the lasting value of his work possible. An artist always spends thousands of time thinking about how to express his strong feeling through his art work. And the more strong feeling he expresses in his work, the more valuable his work is. Only through this can we read about the strong emotion behind the work after hundreds of years. This is the key to keep his work popular and valuable for hundreds of years because to value one art work is not to value its complicated skill that an artist used in his work but to value the deep conotation that expressed or hidden in the work. For example, when Van Gogh created his famous work "Sunflower", he tried to express his strong passion towards life although his life was not that good. The bright color of this work fully expresses his passion and when people look at this work now, people are easily touched by this passion. When we feel sad about our lives, just looking at such kind of art will encourage us to face the difficult in our lives.

In the second place, the critic who values the art work and shares his view with public also contributes to keep the work valuable through the time. Some work of art is not that impressing at first glance to us who has not so much knowledge about arts. So we may tend to understand the meaning of the art through reading some comments written by critics. And if a certain piece of art is so lucky that always commented by critics now and then, this piece of art will have more chance to be known and appreciated by the public. However, a critic always has different view on a certain art work with other critic, thus will arouse a debate over that art work. As a result, more and more critic will join in to value that work and more and more valuable elements in that work will be found out. Obviously, this can also add the value of a work and making the society benefit more from that valuable work.

To sum up, artist who gives the life of art work is no wonder contributes most to that work. But we can not deny that a critic who helps keep the art more understandable and attracts more attention from the society also contributes to the new life of the work.

不错第一篇就这么流畅，很好
感觉作者很注重表达，句子结构也很注意
就本文来说还应说说critics和artists之间的相关内容
