一定按时完成!!
In this argument, the arguer recommends that The development of an extensive computer-based long-distance learning program will enhance the reputation of Xanadu College. To bolster this conclusion, he cites the fact that there were two traditional courses for their distance learning trial project last year whose adaptations were apparent. The arguer also refers the assumption that enroll more students and the more time engaging in extensive research as well as fewer classroom obligations will consequently enhance the reputation of Xanadu. However, the professor’s argument is problematic in several respects, rendering the argument unconvincing as it stands.
To begin with, the arguer imposes the unsustainable connection between the long-distance learning program and the augment in enrolling more students in their courses. We cannot ensure that the course they carry out is to the taste of the students. If students find it is too boring to learn the program, how could there be an possibility that more students will be enrolled. What’s more, if there are not sufficent students who own a personal computer, in another word, only minory students can afford to enjoy this computer-based long-distance learning program, there is no assurement that the program will attract more students.
Secondly, the professor cites the evidence of the adaptation of two traditional courses for distance learning trial project last year, consequently he infers that traditional courses could easily be adapted for distance learners. Notwithstanding the two traditional courses have been proved to be an success in the form of distance learning project, this cannot typify all the courses. Maybe the two courses are about the advanced development in the world such as sciences, technology, arts or military affairs, which of course can absorb more students attention and interest. Consequently they were adapted easily. But if the course is as common as daily classess in the classroom, maybe the number of students joining the long-distance courses will go down.
What’s more, the aruger connect the less obligation of classrooms for teachers and the extensive research, I don’t think it is reasionalbe. The long-distance courses also need teacher’s dedication no less than that in classrooms so that they can assure the quality of the courses. Therefore, the less obligation of classrooms cannot allow more time for extensive research. Even if there is extensive research, the arguer cannot conclude that this will enhance the reputation of Xandu. To enhance the reputation, the college must improve their source of teachers, students, equipments and the capility of research, not only by extensive reseach.
In sum, this is a weak argument. To strengthen it, the professor must consider and collect all other possible explanations for the advantages of long-distance courses. He should cite more statistics concerning about the students who have learnt on line. Maybe s survey in students has more persuation. To better assess the argument, I would need more information about the two courses put in distance course last year and the relation between the less obligation classrooms and the extensive research.
