51. Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
People today place much more expectation on school than they used to do. The speaker asserts that the real effective way for education is especially designed to make the needs of the students' desire and interests. In my view, however, the speaker's statement is partly correct, and some other aspects also should be under deeply consideration.
First, consider the essence of the education the assertion makes its sense. As known to almost all the people, the effectiveness of education is to teach students the knowledge and the ways how to get them they want. Only relying on this, students will get the capability to solve the problems and make their lives easily. If the education could not meet the needs of the students and stir up their interests, how bad, we can image, the students will be, and how terrible the education is. Without good ability or great interests or both of them, poor, hunger and ignorance are their "good" friends that keep company with them through their lives, which disobeys the education's mission and effectiveness.
Yet the effective of education lies in its generalization. It means that education should be designed to be understood and accepted by the public. Generalization has its advantages to teachers and students and ultimately gets the goal of effectiveness. Take cartoon, a generalized education publisher, as an example, one, without much special knowledge, will grasp the meaning in a short time after he or she browse it. Another good example is Einstein's theory of relativity, compared with cartoon, it is hard to be understood by most people including the college students whose major is Physics. In Biology, when talking about recombination and repair, few people make clearly know about the details. So generalization is a most effective way for education.
Moreover, over-specified education will narrow down the students' ken and capability of acclimation for further career. A talent, good skill at mathematics, is only taught it for a long time and makes contact with formula and principle all the time. In this case, the possibility to ignorance to other fields is much larger than ordinary students taught with Biology, Chemistry, History, etc. Only with the capability to solve the mathematical problems, it may be hard for him to find a job, for capability of each other is related together among different fields. As more and more relationships are built up, over-specified education can not adapt for today's schools, teachers and students.
In sum, it seems that effective education should be designed to meet the receivers' desire and interests is completely correct, however, when consider more aspects, the speaker assertion begs the question. A good effective education should be designed to the public, amplify the students ken and improve the students' capability which is acquired by society.
