很多同学问关于怎么报名直接参加美国加州BAR的考试。如果你已经是中国合格执业律师，你不需要获取美国ABA ACCREDITED LLM，根据加州政策也是可以有资格参加考试的。具体请参照下面官方文件。这个适合一些在香港等地已经获取JD或则LLM毕业生，不想再读一个美国昂贵的LLM，自己已经有COMMON LAW EDUCATION，通过自学CALIFORNIA BAR材料，参加考试，获得US BAR 的ALTERNATIVE ROUTE（ALTERNATIVE TO NY BAR WHICH REQUIRES EARNING AN ABA ACCREDITED LLM AS A PREREQUISTE FOR ADMISSION TO EXAM)。

ADMISSION TO PRACTICE LAW IN CALIFORNIA BY ATTORNEYS ADMITTED IN
JURISDICTIONS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES
The requirements for admission to practice law in California are contained in the Rules Regulating
Admission to Practice Law in California (Rules). The following is a summary of the requirements for
attorneys who are admitted in jurisdictions outside the United States. For the specific requirements,
refer to the Rules.
To be admitted to practice law in California, an applicant must comply with the requirements outlined in
the Rules, which include: 1) registration as an attorney applicant, which must be completed through an
online application process available on the Admissions’ Web site; 2) a positive moral character
determination, which forms are available for downloading on the Admissions’ Web site; 3) a passing
score on the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination, which is administered and scored by
the National Conference of Bar Examiners (go online to www.ncbex.org for more information and
applications); and, 4) passage of the California Bar Examination, which applications are available online
through the Admissions’ Web site. Additionally, applicants must be in compliance with any State
Department of Social Services’ court ordered child or family support obligations.
All applicants for admission, including attorneys admitted in jurisdictions outside the United States, are
required to provide a social security number pursuant to Business and Professions Code Section 30
(California’s tax enforcement provisions) and Family Code Section 17520 (Child Support Enforcement
Program). Effective January 1, 2006, an applicant who does not have a social security number
because he/she does not qualify for one, may request an exemption from the requirement of providing
a social security number at the time they file an application with the Committee of Bar Examiners. More
information regarding the social security number requirement and exemption is available online on the
Admissions’ portion of the State Bar’s Web site at www.calbar.ca.gov/admissions. Otherwise, there is
no requirement of citizenship or residency.
Attorney applicants admitted in jurisdictions outside the United States may qualify to take the California
Bar Examination by filing the appropriate applications and documentation, which include submission of
a Certificate of Good Standing from the jurisdiction in which the applicant is admitted. Attorney
applicants admitted in jurisdictions outside the United States must take the General Bar Examination,
which is of three days duration and consists of six essay questions, two Performance Test questions
and the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), which consists of 200 multiple-choice questions. Attorney
applicants must register, online, with the Committee of Bar Examiners prior to filing a moral character
determination or examination application.
The California Bar Examination dates and deadlines are as follows:
