题目:ARGUMENT211 - The following appeared in a memorandum to faculty from the academic vice president of Waymarsh University.
"So that we can better accomplish Waymarsh University's academic goals, we should adopt the job-opportunity (job-op) program offered at Plateau Technical College and strongly encourage all students at Waymarsh to participate in it. The success of the job-op program at Plateau is evident: over the past two years, more than 75% of the freshmen at Plateau have enrolled in the optional job-op program. Moreover, at Plateau, the grades of job-op students are consistently higher than those of other students, 90% of the job-op students receive job offers within a month after their graduation, and most former job-op students report much success in their careers."

According to the materials, we get the accurate number information about the job opportunity of Waymarsh University's students, but we can't see any logical link between the numbers and whether we should adopt the job-op program.
Meanwhile we can catch the word of "encourage all students to participate in it", but we can't see the reason of participating, which we can only know most student join the program and most of them received job offers after their graduation. They may be affected and learn many useful things by the job-op program, however, they may also affected by any other learning.
Although the vice president is just want tell the benefit of job-op program, he extraordinarily praised a little bit too much, while lead a feeling of fake and cheat. A famous people has already said, "Do something cover the formal level, you might destroy a castle."If we say the number firstly and then encourage the students to join the program, it’ll be the right queue of saying.
That is my opinion about this argument.
题目:ARGUMENT36 - The following appeared in an article written by Dr. Karp, an anthropologist.
"Twenty years ago Dr. Field, a noted anthropologist, visited the island of Tertia and concluded from his observations that children in Tertia were reared by an entire village rather than by their own biological parents. However, my recent interviews with children living in the group of islands that includes Tertia show that these children spend much more time talking about their biological parents than about other adults in the village. This research proves that Dr. Field's conclusion about Tertian village culture is false, and thus that the observation-centered approach to studying cultures is invalid. Because they are using the interview-centered method, my team of graduate students working in Tertia will establish a much more accurate understanding of child-rearing traditions there and in other island cultures."

As a whole, for the Dr. Karp, I think it's not very suitable to say the Dr. Field's conclusion is wrong.
Firstly, we can see the samples they interview isn't at the same time, so the materials which is getting from Dr. Karp don't have the absolutely power to defeat the old conclusion. We can't say something like, if I have much more money than you have now, I was also and extraordinarily richer than you 20 years ago. There is no logic relationship between the two things about money, also about the children.
Second of all, Dr. Karp uses the different methods to investigate from the Dr. Field, who are using the way called "interview-centered". My professor always told us, "Different way, you'll get the new place to stay."It is namely said that if we want to prove something's false, we must path around its way and use the same method they use, the same zone they interview, also with the more hardworking and more accurate investigating, if the conclusion is different. From then on, we use our own way and totally make the result as we do before, we can prove the false of old conclusion.
That is my thinking about the argument.
