"The only responsibility of corporate executives, provided they stay within the law, is to make as much money as possible for their companies."

When it refers to the responsibilities of corporate executives, there are always a variety of views from different people in different fields on such a controversial issue. Admittedly, the main responsibility of executives is to make as much money as possible for their companies; however, I agree insofar as besides making money, there must be some other responsibilities for these executives. And I think there are a couple of reasons and instances supporting my view such as following:

To begin with, no one would deny that money is the main target for those executives. The reason for this is simple: First of all, companies need money to pay the salaries and bonus to their workers, who indeed make the profits. In addition, to keep the companies developing rapidly, money is also an essential factor. For example, the research of new products, the fare of advertising, and so forth, would require a great amount of money. What's more, more money obtained in companies can also means, to some extent, more avenues to the society, since government may get more taxes. Take GM company for example; the taxes imposed by government are used to build highways, railways, schools, etc, which contribute a lot to improve the living conditions. In this respect, money is the most significant aim for these executives.

However, besides profits, there must be some more responsibilities in other aspects. For the employees in companies, executives should also consider providing their effective trainings, which might lead them work effective. Additionally, the companies are obliged to supply the workers nice food and working environment in order to obtain high efficiency. In the aspect of society, companies should not only focus on the profits, but also on helping the government solving some present problems. For example, the companies can take a little part of their avenues to carry out some research regarding to our society's problems. A good instance immediately come to my mine is the Toyota Company, has spent a lot of resources to develop the vehicle driven by electricity, in order to solve the problems of the energy crisis and environmental pollutions.

What's more, companies should have more responsibilities for society, since their avenues are obtained from the society. As a saying goes" Obtained from people, service the people", which is to the profits are obtained from the consumers, consequently companies should provide better service to people. For instance, the successful managers and executives can go to some colleges to share their experiences on their success trait; it must have great benefits to the students, since they may know how to achieve success and avoid some mistakes. What's more, the companies should be responsible to help society especially in some serious and terrible occasions. Take the earthquake of WenChuan in China for instance; nearly all companies donated money, food, clothes, etc. to help the government carrying on their saving work after the terrible earthquake.

To sum up, making as much profits as possible is one of the responsibilities of cooperate executives, instead of the only one, as the statement contends. Obviously, based on the factors discussed above, we may safely make a conclusion that there are some other responsibilities not only in the aspect of individuals, but also for the whole society.
