The author asserts that the appearances and behaviors of people not only reveals their attitudes and interests but also tell us much about the society they belong to. I concede the author's point of view, though sometimes what we see might mislead us and cover the real truth.

To begin with, it is quite easy to have an idea about people's attitudes and interest by judging their usual clothes and behaviors. For example, people who like sports may be inclined to wear sport suit or loose clothes, for it is easy for them to join the sports any time, anywhere. And people who usually in formal clothes may show their interests in community life or the serious attitudes towards his life. Also, appearance and behavior can also present a society's value and ideas. In Beijing Olympic Games Open Ceremony, it is obvious that the conventional dressing and dancing did show the world that China, which has such a long history, has its own way to performance they ideas and values in the life stage. In a short, observing people’s actions and dressing would help we understand the society they belong to.

Secondly, people's appearance reflects many aspects of a society. We need to look no further than women in Arab, who can not show their faces to men before marry them, which does reveal the women's status in the Arab society. Another example comes to the romantic country: France, where causal dressings can be found everywhere along the street. What is more, appearance can also tell about a society's pace during its history. Various clothes and behaviors that show people's personality can seldom be found in the China when time turns back 20 years. At that time, conventional thought leads the country. Unless a society is tolerate enough does people could dare to present the pursuit not only in appearance but also in value. At this time, people lead themselves.

Nevertheless, the interests and behaviors of people may not quite match with the whole society all the time. For instance, America, which is known as an immigrant country, consists so many races and cultures that none of one culture would represent the mainstream of the whole country. What’s more, with the development of globalization, we can not judge a society just by observing its people’s behaviors and interests any more. For example, Christmas is becoming a very popular festival recent years in China. People’s wearing Christmas hats, planting Christmas trees, and putting socks waiting for the Christmas gifts may not shows their real beliefs in it. Under this circumstance, interests are just interests, and just a result of the world’s global influence. So, people’s behaviors and appearances do not present a society’s values and ideas all the time.

To sum up, due to the discussions talked above, we may safely draw the conclusion that people's appearances and behaviors reveal much about a society's ideas and values. However, in order to know about a society deeply, when need to study on much more aspects of it, because individuals can not represent a society totally.
