ISSUE103 - "The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives."
The study of history is significant for human beings which makes us learn how to solve the problems at present from history. According to the speaker's assertion, the study of history is valuable only when it is relevant to our daily lives. However, the everyday lives are not the only problem that our society would face because for our human beings we have the mission to develop our civilization. There are still many problems in areas of education, laws and so on for us to work out. So the speaker's claim just expresses one part of the value of studying history. We should never be regardless of other valuable wealth that the study of history could bring.
Admittedly, the study of history does have its value when it is relevant to our daily lives. Every day we enjoy our daily lives and if the study of history has affected or even changed our daily lives, then everyone would be aware of that. For instance, our cooking has a long way of development with the study of history. The people always study the cooking history to make our food healthier and more delicious which have already made our cooking become a culture. Every day the cookers develop our cooking on the basis of the studying cooking history. And our quality of meals is getting better and more perfect. So no one would say that the study of history is unworthy in this way. As a result, the study of history is important when coming to our daily lives.
However, if the study of history only values to our daily lives, then our world would not be like what it is today. We need to study the history to solve many problems that relate to the development of our society in the realm of education, laws and so forth. That is more significant for humans to live in this world
In the realm of education, the study of history helps us to find strategies to improve it. When the teachers want to give students more effective way to learn various of skills and knowledge, he or she always will require looking up the "dictionary" of history for help because history has many examples for them to find out which the better way is. Even education is not relevant to the daily lives of everyone, but it is related to the future of our society. Consequently that the study of history has its way to help education means it has its value to us human beings.
When it comes to the area of laws, we still need the study of history for help. For example, when a country makes a new law for a certain situation, the first step he or she would do is to check the history to find out whether other countries have already make laws for this situation or how the society in the history would do for this situation. Then according to the study and the country's own opinion, the new law would come out. That the critical value of the study of history because the laws means a lot to make our society more beautiful.
To sum up, the study of history has its value in almost every section of our world including our daily lives. But the speakers' claim only mention one section of it. Finally I disagree with the speaker's assertion that the study of history is only valuable when it is related to our everyday lives.
