Skills, myriad professional abilities to solve intractable specific problems and issues, are highly emphasized in the modern society. After an analysis of skills addressed above, in my perspective, diagnosing clients need and dealing with paper work require the most improvement. Actually, a successful consultant is to draw a precise definition of clients need rather than persuade clients with eloquent speeches. In most cases, clients’ needs and demands determines what kinds of researches we should investigate, what kinds of data we should collect, what kinds of eventually information we should supply, and ect.. Diagnosing clients need is to consulting what a rhumb is to navigation. In the second place, without an efficiency or deliberate paper work, it is impossible to integrate all the materials, and fail to present explicit information to clients. Characteristics, not similar to skills, inner idiosyncrasy, have been established since childhood, and are endurable and stable in human’s life. In my opinion, enjoying working long, hard hours needs the most attention. No one can savor a long tedious working without any hesitance.
Skills, addressed in the list, are all necessary to a consultant, however, it takes people a plenty of time to be adroit in. There is several ways for me to gain necessary skills and experience. First of all, books, files and videos, recorded by progenitors, abundant in resources, are one of methods to gain skills. Though vivid depictions and indirect experience, humans can learn a sketch of a theory. For example, although, consultants have not achieved a degree of psychology, they still need an extent of expert knowledge to conduct a pleasant conversation and earn clients’ trust, which will facilitate the process of consulting. Under such a condition, how should a consultant do to quickly gain the information and professional attitudes? There is no doubt that we can turn to read books and all the materials, which maybe present a similar case that we confront with. As we known, books and all the materials have no abilities to speak or discuss with human beings. Discussions, conversations, or even conflicts benefit our skills improvement, so, in the second place, I will request for opportunities to cooperate with my predecessors. Predecessors are more skillful and experienced, and they have a broaden horizon because of dealing with thousands cases. Discussions and conversations with them help me to better discern different needs towards to different people, and also acknowledge how to apply what learn from school to a given case. Though an observation of predecessors’ behaviors and language, I will be informed of how to organize your words and switch your tones when you are negotiating with your clients. Moreover, conflicts bring up innovations and creative thinking instead of impeding communications and thoughts. The last but not the least, the most effective and efficient way to gain necessary skills is to conduct realm of cases by myself. You will never know what will happen in reality and what you will respond under such a condition without pragmatic practice. For example, even if you may practice many times about how to begin a conversation with your clients at home, but when you meet them in your office, you probably become a stammer because of discomposure. There are a mass of ways to gain skills, but in the beginning period, I will focus on these three methods to improve my skills.
Characteristics are an integration of human’s inner reflections of the real world. They have been established for a long time, and sometimes are immovable. As I mentioned above, I think working long, hard hours needs the most attention. This is not natural to me; however, it can be changed in some ways. I have a strong sense of responsibility for my clients, which indicates I will devote myself into helping my clients and establish mutual friendly relationships, and then, it can distract me from feeling suffering a tedious and prosaic hard working. My working ethics are always in my mind. The long hour’s hard working is one of my jobs, and when I intend to be a consultant I should be awareness of it. Moreover, during the process of hard working, it maybe contains some interesting information and creative logic thinking. They also can help me get rid of resisting hard working. Everything can change due to a fixed resolution, including characteristics. When I am used to it, it will become a pattern of behavior with a frequent repetition. In a conclusion, characteristics will be changed with a socialization of my life.
