Throughout these years, I visited many places. Sometimes I traveled alone, but in most times, I chose to take part in a travel group, since this way can benefit me a lot.

Firstly, a guide could help us to better understand the scenery and the culture. Since a guide is a professional one, he must be tested on the background information about the place and have the certificate which allow him to be a guide. Moreover, a guide usually went to the place several times, he is familiar with the place. If people go to see an old building, for example, it is hard to deeply know the history hidden in the building. Especially in China, there are too many ancient buildings and complex cultures that varied in thousands of years. A guide can tell you why people built those precious things, what are the functions of them, for what reason that they were damaged by other people and so on. With a guide’s explanation, I believe tourists can better understand the place and buildings they visit.

Secondly, traveling with a group increases the fun during the long journey. Sometimes you have to sit in a bus for 7 or 8 hours from one scene to another. Under this situation, playing with a group will kill the time, or you will feel dull and lonely during the trip. As for me, it's the strongest reason why I would like to travel in a group. If my friends and I all join the group, we will play cards in the car and go to the shopping mall when there is no arrangement after one day's trip. If I join the group alone, there's no doubt that I will meet different kinds of people. May be we will keep silence at the beginning, but in the end, I could make several friends.

Lastly, staying in a group is much safer than going to some places alone. When you travel in the forest or some dangerous places, you had better not to leave the group. A guide will teach you the basic methods to protect yourself, and a lot of people together could avoid some dangerous situations such as a gang who want to rob you.


In conclusion, traveling with a group led by a guide could make us familiar with the place we visit, bring us more fun, and avoid some dangerous situations. Therefore, I am convinced that visiting a place with a group led by a guide is the best way to travel.
