附上一篇我练习的文章,希望大家评价下
考试时我小作文大约写了200词,大作文大约写了300词。自我感觉大作文比这篇好一点点。小作文不可能低到5分一下的,这点我有信心。
Topic:
Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer.
What, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university?
Solution:
As our society is stepping into an information and knowledge era, education, especially the tertiary-level education, turns out to be the focus of citizens’ consideration. What kind of role should the universities play in our society is argued form time to time. It remains a debatable issue whether universities have a duty to teach the students how to get knowledge or just afford them employment skills.
It is universally acknowledged that college students should be given access to knowledge. We are living in a steeply developing society which is inundated with information. Technology and science advances dramatically day by day and technological innovations have become an indispensable part of the development of our society. As a result, university, as the resource of knowledge, has the obligation to cultivate students to think independently and learn things by themselves rather than rarely impel them to memorize functions, equations, theorems and rules by rote, since self-learn skill is a key determinant of innovations.
Admittedly, theoretical knowledge and practical skills play an important role in job hunting due to the favor of corporations which expect their recruits bringing benefits immediately rather than dedicate a long period of time to training them. It is because of this that most universities nowadays tend to train their students to meet the requirements of companies. However, it is a bit short-sighted strategy which is most likely to limit students’ further development.
As is discussed above, university education cannot be restricted to knowledge impartation and it also needs to show students, future administrators and designers of our society, the route to independent study thereby ensuring that the world will step forward successively.
