The statement demonstrates that the scholars and researchers' interests are more important than their achievements. As far as I am concerned, the standpoint of the speaker is superficial, because the researchers and scholars' mission is to make contribution to the whole society.

I concede that researchers' interests seem important to some extent. It is an undeniable fact that people would achieve more, if they had concentrated and spared no efforts on their fields of study. Thus, personal interests will activate and enhance the researcher's concentration and hard word. Also, they can work with passion and find the happiness during the work. For example, if there are two geniuses in a college, and both their IQ are 180, but one of them has been addicted into theoretical physics, another one has been intrigued by the Asian literature for a long period time. If they were asked to the exchange their field of study, the consequence could be counterproductive, even though they have extraordinary intelligence. Indeed, different people have various and special talents and interests, most people's career success is the combination of diligence and interests.


Above, we have emphasized the significances of the researchers’ interests, but the speaker points out that the scholars should not be concerned with their work makes a contribution to the larger society, because their interests are more important. Obviously, this statement is far-fetched. Researchers and scholars, are more than the experts on the specific fields, they are the excellent groups of people who study, analyze and conclude the essence of mankind and make contribution to the whole society. Darwin's natural selection theory gives us a hint to view ourselves in a different way; the bell's phone plays a revolutionary role in people's lives; the researchers from the criminology department in every university disclose how many social problems which need to be solved immediately. On balance, the researchers’ works always instruct the growth of the whole society.

At the same time, it is unwise for researchers to disregard that whether their work will make contribution to the society. Nowadays, most scholars and researchers are supported by the universities or governments' fund. The original purposes of those studies are aim for transcending the history, finding the truism of mankind and improving people’s living standards.
Some researchers have strong interests on their studies, but their studies do not have practical and economical benefits, and some of them will even trigger a series of negative results. Besides, it is not necessary to waste huge amount of money and other investments on those nonsense studies, even though the researchers are impassionate and they may find some compelling aspects on those fields, but the public fund is limited, the money should be allocated wisely. In contrast, the safety, better lives of most people should be guaranteed.

The reasonable and rational perspective on this issue is a compromise between the researcher’s interests and the worth of their studies. On the one hand, it is the researcher’s passion and interest that make the research more efficient and ravishing than other research who does not like their studies. On the other hand, we also need to consider the restricted resources in our society and the benefits of all the social members. To be exact, in Asian counties, there are still thousands of people can not afford the basic needs, such as clothing, food and shelter. Therefore, we need cut some research on nuclear weapons, designs of luxurious cars and other unnecessary fields to face the imperative problems which have been researched for a long period of time, ironically, the results are still very disappointing.

In sum, researchers and scholars’ personal interests will definitely help them to work efficiently and happily. Also, considering the benefits of the whole society is the fundamental base of every single research.

As far as I am concerned, the standpoint of the speaker is superficial, because the researchers and scholars' mission is to make contribution to the whole society. 我觉得用superficial不大恰当，关注自己有兴趣的研究领域谈不上superficial吧，或许用misunderstanding之类的？

I concede that researchers' interests seem important用重要不如用合理一词 to some extent. It is an undeniable fact that people would achieve more, if they had concentrated and spared no efforts on their fields of study. Thus, personal interests will activate and enhance the researcher's concentration and hard word. 我觉得这句话和前面的那一句逻辑关系不对。thus是指所以，我觉得这里你的意思是不是“因为”或者说“as we know兴趣是最好的老师”？Also, they can work with passion and find the happiness during the work.这里also一般表示一个并列的关系吧，我觉得用递进的关系更好。“个人兴趣可以……因为这样[and thus?]他们会……” For example, if there are two geniuses in a college, and both of their IQ are 180, but one of them has been addicted into theoretical physics, another one has been intrigued by the Asian literature for a long period time. If they were asked to the exchange their field of study, the consequence could be counterproductive, even though they have extraordinary intelligence. 这个举例貌似关联作用不大。exchange后会变得counterproductive，那么到底怎样的算是counterproductive?而且这个和“应将个人兴趣作为评价的标准”的论点有什么具体关系？没有很好支撑论点。Indeed, different people have various and special talents and interests, most people's career success is the combination of diligence and interests.Indeed后面两个小分句的逻辑关系？是前因后果？还是前果后因？或者并列？或者递进？然后这句话和上面的例子的关系？总结？如果是总结的话，那么还是同样的，例子里没有明显的传达出这个含义。

The original purposes of those studies are aim for aiming at transcending the history, finding the truism of mankind and improving people’s living standards. 研究领域各有不同，并不是所有的领域都是意在你说的这几个目的上的。前面scholars and researchers前面或许可以加些专业词进行限定。Some researchers have strong interests on their studies, but their studies do not have practical and economical benefits, and some of them will even trigger a series of negative results.到底怎样的研究会有你说的这些特征呢？抽象了。 Besides, it is not necessary to waste huge amount of money and other investments on those nonsense nonsense这个词貌似太过了。studies, even though the researchers are impassionate？不热情？ and they删掉 may find some compelling aspects on those fields, but the public fund is limited, [前后有个因果关系比较好，因为资金有限所以应该合理分配]the money should be allocated wisely. Therefore, we need cut some research on nuclear weapons, designs of luxurious cars 为什么这几个必须cut?用在这几个方面的资源为什么是有限的呢？或者说还可以更好的用作什么什么用途？and other unnecessary fields to face the imperative problems which have been researched for a long period of time, ironically, the results are still very disappointing.

In sum, researchers and scholars’ personal interests will definitely help them to work efficiently and happily. Also, considering the benefits of the whole society is the fundamental base of every single research.结尾很简洁，但是感觉稍稍有点没扣题呀。问的是评价他们的标准。

感觉观点不够深刻，还停留在表面的层次上，可以好好的看些关于审题的帖子，这里是倾向性的题目：should，问我们应不应该这么评价他们，本质上就是在说researchers和scholars的评价标准，可以看看追星剑特训也就是Imong前辈的帖子，或者相关的优秀习作，issue专项突破力有的。无论是思维还是逻辑，都没能满足ETS所说的complexity这一要求。语言并不出众，且句与句之间的逻辑联系不够严谨，单词用的也很单调，而且不是很准确。

恩，我也是新人，第一次看这个题目，所以改的不好，拍的重了，请见谅。嘿嘿。
