2.4 Doyouagree or disagree with the following statement? People benefit morefromtravelling in their own country than travelling in a foreigncountry.
I used to do back-packing in western Europe, and I also have been arounda good amount of places in my own country, China. Based on my personal experience, I strongly agree that travelling in one's own country is more beneficial than that in a foreign country.
The primary reason that people travel is to relax and have fun. In people's homecountry, where they find it more familliar and speak the same language with others, they are more likely to feel comfortable, and relax themselves. On the contray, travelling in a different environment, instinc make people tend to turn more alert, and pay less attenion on simplly enjoying the trip itself. That's what I did when I travelled with several friends in Europ, we spent a lot of time on communicating with local people, such as asking about direction to a Franch who didn't speak English. In my own country, I won't have to worry about such detail things deverting my focus, hence will enjoy the trip more.
Another advantage about travelling in one's own country is that they achieve more fresh information, thus understand and appreciate more about what they see. When people travel in their own country, they have a lot of related background knowledge about the place they visit, so they have greater chances to understand and appreciat it. Once I was on a trip to Xi-An, a beatiful historical city in north China, I went to see those famous clay soldiers, which were thousands of years ago and burried in a former king's grave. I found it extremely interesting, because I know about that part of history of my own country. However I found a blond girl didn't seem know well about the whole artifact. Same thing happened to me in Europe, although I did research online before taking off to the trip, I found it relatively harder to apprehend everything I saw, and ended up taking a picture in front of every site, then simplly moved on. I believe someone from Europe will benefit more than I did from the same trip.
According to what is demonstrated above, I feel it obvious that travelling in their own country help people torelax and have good time, as well as understand the places of interest, hence is more beneficial. |
