The lecturer clearly illustrates that Chevalier’s memoir was accurate and reliable, which strongly casts doubt upon what the reading passage talks about.

The first point the professor uses to challenge what the writer illustrates is that chevalier was really rich. He borrow money from others just because he was waiting for him money.

Contrary to the information shown in the reading passage, the professor makes a fairly different idea that the Chevalier records in the memoir is the accuracy of the conversations between himself and the famous writer Voltaire. The speaker said that Chevalier kept notes about their conversation and his roommate could confirm this.

The third point cited by the speaker as a piece of strong evidence to refute the idea from the reading material is that the prison room which Chevalier lived in, had to be repaired after escaping. In addition, other prisoner in the prison had more powerful friend than he did.

In sum, what the speaker illustrates in the lecture is entirely contradictory to the information demonstrated by the writer.
