Although history has always been a compulsory course in middle school, we seldom think about the question why we have to study history. Then what the ancient stories can exactly tell us? Actually, from different aspects, we can find out that not only the history associated with our daily lives is valuable, but study the whole history is more useful.

First, from the perspective of a country, the study of history, no matter in Politics, Economics or Education, can be helpful in policy making. As the correct policy is always made under the guide of the comprehensive study of history. In the political field, for example, today peace and prosperity have become the common goals of every country, but why there are still so many research, literature and art works concentrating upon the Second World War? Just because that piece of history can brought us many topics on human nature, and based on those reflection of the history, nowadays peace is the core spirit of all acceptable political policies. Similarly, from the economic history we can find the reasons of economic boom and financial crisis and make out the appropriate policies to meet the current economic needs of the country. Education is also not an exception, experience-based educational policy always requires the educators have a full analysis of the prior educaional success and failures.

Second, from the angle of a corporation, studying history of its own and other companies is necessary in survival and competition. As the history can tell us the
successful experience and mistakes of a company or even the whole industry. The good sale of biographies of some past distinguished enterprisers is a good example. The readers always want to search for some useful experience of the great men in the operation. Meanwhile, the analysis of its own business history is also an efficient measure to coop with the current difficult issue. As its own history is a good mirror, from which the leaders and managers can detect the potential problems in the management.

Finally, appreciating history can help each individual to formulate one’s own mental cretia. ‘History makes men wise.’As Baconn said, because from the key historical figures we can always find out some valuable characteristics leading them to success. These characteristics, such as honesty, patience and determination, maybe cannot be
fully appreciated in our daily lives, but nobody would deny that they are all the foundation of future succes.

History is a kind of resource, from which we can get much, although the effect of the study of history is usually intangible. If we just focus on the partial history which is relevant to our daily lives, we will lose much.

这篇文章的思路给了我许多新的角度~从国家，公司，个人三个角度来阐明历史的作用和价值~~很不错~~~，但是，还是那个问题，我仍然无法回答，什么是和日常生活联系的历史？ 按照luxixi同学的行文我似乎觉得所有的历史都跟日常生活没什么关系，因为都是发生在过去的事，和现在都有区别。于是我变得很疑惑，关于此issue 我需要更清晰的结构。

我自己的想法附上作为一家之言 我个人认为把研究历史的角度仅仅局限于与我们日常生活相联系的范围是片面的  历史能够帮助我们了解人和社会的本质（what） 了解人的行为和社会运转的规律（how）  最后我们准确预测未来，和总结过去的理由。（why） 所以有许多研究成果是和当今日常生活无关的，比如原始人的习俗和社会构成，某一时期人们的穿着和语言……等等，但是这些也都是有价值的。  因为所有的研究成果最终或多或少都会与我们现在的生活相联系，只是这是成果应用的方向而不是研究领域的方向。作者the speaker所声称的应该就是搞错最后这个东西~~~一家之言 仅作参考
