First of all, in contrast to the argument stated in the passage that without literature,people will lose more benefits, the professor says that there are many high-quality books such as science writing, history and political analysis. These books are also good books to stimulate people’s imagination.

Secondly, the lecture contradicts the point made in the passage that reading less literature means the declination of culture. The professor argues that nowadays the culture has been changed. There are so many different forms to express culture other than novels and poems.

Finally, while the passage states that the literatures are lack of audience, the lecture maintains a different point of view. The professor says there might be the author’s fault. Today’s literatures which are difficult for readers to understand would lose their readers.
