It is indisputable that students have to remember knowledge tightly to get better scores and it is inevitable that the students have to review the learning again and again to memorize. The issue whether teachers should give homework every day to urge their students to get marks is under debate. When it comes to the necessity of everyday homework, people have different opinions and perspectives according to their distinct backgrounds and experiences. However, for me, I really agree with the point that daily assigned homework is useless.
Firstly, it seems too simplicity to assume that who finished the daily homework would master the whole knowledge from class. Absolutely, although if teachers would provide the most appropriate homework for the students, how dare one guarantee that students would do the homework with 100% concentration and patient. On the contrary, students would be more flexible if they could arrange their own time to fix the learning in class. Actually the spare time would be occupied with review which better fit for every single student and they would adjust for themselves.
Moreover, choosing their own review by students themselves would make students more independent and self-achieved. When getting more knowledge and skills from their books and teachers, students grow up and have to face the problems all by themselves without anyone's instruction. Take me for example, I am a postgraduate student and I design the experiment all by myself if I want the original one to be well known. No one would help me. So I really appreciate 10 years self-studying in my high school and college that I know how to check knowledge from net, how to shoot the trouble, how to analyze the problems, and how to solve the unprepared results. And no one would imagine that when I get a perfect gene clone, how the self-achievement I would get!
In all, it is waste to get daily homework from teachers, as teacher have to think about what is proper homework-- not too easy and not too difficulty, while it seems like waste time to do the easy homework for the better level of students and it is rather hard to finish for the students who lack of knowledge. So although I have to admit that teachers always leave some homework to students in my country, it is really deficiency to get homework from teachers.
