Title: Some people think that the government should increase the sports facilities to solve the public health problems. However, others think that other measures should be taken to help resolve this problem. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Public health has always been an urgent problem for the government in many countries to address. Some have pointed out that increasing sports facilities is an effective way to enhance the public health, while others assert the government should take more actions on solving the problem. This assay discusses both opinions. From my perspective, several measures should be taken at the same time.
It is undoubted that more sports facilities available is one way to encourage exercising, so to promote the public health. In the present day, there is very limited space in big cities for people to conduct sports. Most streets are full of business and commercial buildings, which definitely make more profit for the government than gyms or free sports facilities do. Also, when the government considering buildings or infrastructure, the priority is often given to the schools or hospitals, whereas sports facilities are usually classified as for entertainment purpose that become less important than education and health requirements. By increasing the number of sports facilities, it at least offers a chance for individuals who want to have daily exercises near their homes.
However, other actions should be taken meanwhile in order to resolve public health problems. Firstly, it is necessary to provide people with more information on preventing and dealing with health issues. Instead of suddenly broadcasting preventive methods then certain disease breaks out, it would be better for the government in conjunction with the media to offer more health-related information on the daily TV and radio programs, therefore, raising the public awareness of the prevention and treatment of some common diseases. Also, the local community could run seminars and workshops for retired people as well as youngsters on health problems that these populations are particularly vulnerable to. The other effective way to address the public health problems is to boost the number of medical staff and facilities in both hospitals and clinics. To conquer the staff and resources shortage in health system, it is the responsibility of the government to invest more money in medical schools, research and hospitals, by increasing the scholarships and funds to encourage medical studies and providing more facilities for urban hospitals and rural clinics.
To conclude, increasing sports facilities may be one way to promote public health, but not the only measure that can be introduced by the government. By raising the knowledge of health issues among the general public and investing in medical areas, health problems can be better and quicker combated. |
