Position: The destiny of society is largely depended on how children are socialized. But there are some problems of our educational methods, no matter in school or in family.
孩子的社会发很大程度决定着社会的未来。无论是在学校,还是在家庭,我们的教育方法的确存在某些严重问题。

Unfortunately, today’s schools put too much emphasis on memorizing dead facts rather that cultivating individuation.
我们的学校缺乏个性化培养.

Our parents care too much about their children to give them every opportunity while they are growing up.
父母没有重视培养孩子独立的精神.

It is said that the general process of acquiring cultures is referred to as socialization. Looking around the word, we can find that different cultures use different methods to socialize their children. There are two broad types of teaching methods—formal and informal. Formal education is what primarily happens in a classroom. It usually is structured, controlled, and directed primarily by adult teachers who are professional "knowers."  In contrast, informal education can occur anywhere.  It involves imitation of what others do and say as well as experimentation and repetitive practice of basic skills.  This is what happens when children role-play adult interactions in their games. There are some serious problems in our education systems, no matter formal or informal, which will hinder to construct a better society in the future.

These days, our schools pay much emphasis on memorizing dead facts rather than cultivating individuation. For instant, we can note that a great weakness of education systems in China is that most of the parents and teachers overemphasize the score. And the children in China have to put most of their time on memorizing the knowledge to get a good mark. A good score is like a key which can open the door of a good university. So our teachers indoctrinate knowledge as much as they can without caring about whether the children can apprehend and use this knowledge freely. As a result, they ‘know’ many things from theory of relativity of Albert Einstein to works of Shakespeare when the children graduate from high school. Unfortunately, if you ask them what they want to be when they grow up, most of them will give you the same answers “I want to be doctor or teacher or science.” Why, you may wonder, should most of the Chinese children want to choose these occupations? They nearly don’t know exactly about these jobs. As a matter of fact, these occupations are the parents and teachers expect the children to choose, not really they want. Under these ‘beat wishes’, our children study hard and fulfill the dreams of their parents or teachers. And maybe that is where the reason is. When they grow up, they always don’t respect the workers such as cleaner. However, a better society should be more harmonious.

And our parents don’t always give every opportunity for their children while they grow up. When the children confront difficulties in life, they always don’t know how to deal with it. The number of college students’ suicide, claim newsman in Guangdong China, accumulates 108 from 2003 to 2008. Some of them meet setbacks from love; some of them feel that they don’t get respect from others and so on. Some newspapers use random searching in Chinese college, it is reported that there is 10.75% colleges students want to end their life when they meet the difficulties. Why these students’ psychological endurance is so weak? The reason is that they get over-protection from their family while they are growing up. They have little chance to overcome the difficulties by themselves. If there is one, they get use to ask for help from their families. So when they grow up, they face the difficulties which must be found solution by themselves, they always don’t how to conquer them. As the feeling of lose accumulated, and they don’t find the solution, they always choose extreme methods such as suicide.

The way we choose to raise our children and let them know how to be socialized will determine the orientation of society. Certainly, we have got a great process in improving our education systems. For example, our schools begin to cultivate comprehensive competence of our children. But as long as we can not find solution of these problems in education, we have a long way to go to construct a harmonious society.

个人感觉,LZ的文章把socialization=education,那么就按照edu来写了,可是,我感觉,题目的前半部分有写到社会,因此,如果要把文章写得更有吸引力,是不是深挖每个段落,写出后果,最好能举出例子,造成那种毛骨悚然的感觉呢?比如,缺乏个性化教育,你举例了,可以证明是这样的事情,那么只是说明一个事实而已,事实都是为观点服务的,那么观点是什么呢?陈腐的教育体制,限制了学生的个性,素服了个人的个性的发挥以及创新思维的发展,然后开始举例子,正反对比,然后,也可以稍微在深挖一下创新对于社会的作用以及社会中,专才的作用,从一个小的点,引导更深的层面,我个人感觉会更好一些。呵呵

BTW,这个参考资料是亮点
