topic:1.21 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Grades (marks) encourage students to learn. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

There is a long lasted public debate about whether the mark encourages students to learn. Somebody agree with the issue in that mark can give students a extremely precise judge criterion of their real study level and stimulate their eager of improving themselves, while others holding the opposite viewpoints maintain that mark is hindering the development of students capacity of other aspects and making them become a study machine. In my prospective, I agree with the former point.

First of all, mark can make students see the gap between them and the good ones clearly, which would stimulate their eager of striving to catch up with the front-runners. It is the most impartial mean with which to judge students’ true situation precisely. On one hand, it is good for schools and companies to choose talented person effectively and exactly. On the other hand, it also makes it much easier for students to formulate their new schedule of improving themselves by deciding a higher target mark. Well, someone may thinking that mark would add heavy pressure on the students, but it is just the so-called pressure of getting better mark makes students become elites finally.

Furthermore, there is no denying that students need to master multiple kinds of ability rather than just getting good mark in the school’s examinations. But, just think about the so-called ability, how can you clearly find out they really master the skill? We still need another way of judgment besides mark. For example, the piano, maybe learn to play a music on it is not that hard, but only after one have passed the degree examination of piano can we approve that he have mastered it. All the ability is the same to piano, each kind needs a peculiar and suitable criterion to assess learners’ level. Without these kinds of criterion, these capacities can be only called hobbies instead. So, why cannot I refer to the criterion as another kind of mark. In this word, mark is a much important way for a student to see how he or she does.

To sum up, mark performs an extraordinarily significant function for students, not only to judge their study quality, but also to encourage them to prove  themselves continuously.

First of all, mark can make students see the gap between them and the good ones clearly, which would stimulate their eager (eagerness) of striving to catch up with the front-runners. It is the most impartial mean with which to judge students’ true situation precisely. On one hand, it is good for schools and companies to choose talented person effectively and exactly. On the other hand, it also makes it much easier for students to formulate their new schedule of improving themselves by deciding a higher target mark. Well, someone may thinking (think) that mark would add heavy pressure on the students (would heavily load students), but it is just the so-called pressure of getting better mark (that)makes students become elites finally.

Furthermore, there is no denying that students need to master multiple kinds of ability rather than just getting (get) good mark in the school’s examinations. But, just think about the so-called ability, how can you clearly find out they really master the skill? We still need another way of judgment besides mark. For example, the piano (Take piano as an example), maybe learn (learning) to play a music on it is not that hard, but only after one have passed the degree examination of piano can we approve that he have (has) mastered it. All the ability (abilities) is (are) the same to piano (level accessment), each kind needs a peculiar and suitable criterion to assess learners’ level. Without these kinds of criterion, these capacities can be only called hobbies instead. So, why cannot (can't) I refer to the criterion as another kind of mark (?不明白意思). In this word, mark is a much important way for a student to see how he or she does. (分级考试是grading的一种,有什么不一样吗?为什么在这段中要说不一样呢?)) f! r# x& Q' D1 k1 `5 R

To sum up, mark performs an extraordinarily significant function for students, not only to judge their study quality, but also to encourage them to prove  themselves continuously.

论点不错,展开得也不错,就是长句太多,最后搞得七拐八弯,理解比较吃力,建议长短句结合。
