The
price
of
milkIn this set of material, the department of agriculture in Batavia reports that their government should regulate the price of milk because it has been risen significantly and earned too much. There sereval reason for these assertions. The author points out that over the ten past years the number of dairy farms in Batavia has increased 25% while the price of milk has increased 100%. As for me ,there are series of questions on these assertions.
To begin with ,the author supports that the price of milk in Excello has increased 100%.He assumes that the prices in Excello is equal to the whole situation of the country. As the matter of fact, many situations in a local cannot reflect the whole country. Although the number of dairy farms of the country has increased largely ,the supply of milk may still not enough in Excello and the milk producers cannot earn money at all.So ,it not surprise that the price in Excello is so high..
In addition, even if the situation in Excello is the average of the whole country. The author doesn’t provides us some reason why the producers can get excessive profit and just assumes that the costs of producing is not increased in this ten years. However, It is entirely possible that
the costs of producing may has been increased more than 100% in this ten years, thus ,the producers have to increased the price of milk to ensure they can get some profit to continue their milk business.
The last but not the least, the author believes that the government’ regulation can control the price of milk in supermarket. There is no doubt that the author overlooks the need and the feeling of the producers. If the government make some regulations for the price of milk, the producers cannot run their business and earn money freely .Naturally, we can consider what will happen next. The producers may product less milk than before to keep enough profit they must get, even stop working to express their angry.
From what has been discussed above ,we may safely draw a conclusion that the author hasn’t enough evidences to support these assumptions. The author must provides enough clear information to evident these assumptions if he want us to believe what he says are right.
