66. “As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate.”

People now are right in an amazing environment and age that is full of science and technology. When we are enjoying this convenience derived from the development of technology, a question jumps into our mind immediately: Will the technology make our intelligence regress? Actually, this kind of convenience might influence the operation of our brain. When watching TV, we don’t use our head instinctively resulting in that we may be in a lazy and sleepy situation. In my point of view, perhaps technology can bring some negative influence to our mind but the key is in our hands.

First of all, we must admit that those miracles made by technology are all as a result of our intelligence. If we never use our head, we couldn’t obtain the wonderful life because of technology----a symbol of our intelligence. The rapid development itself of technology and society is a kind of evidence to testify that our thinking is never deteriorating. In fact, human never stop thinking: We may still in the original society if there is no development of technology. The past thousands of years are full of the evidence and miracles made by our hands. When ancestors are firstly shocked for the fire from lightning, could they imagine that their offspring will discover more energy like electricity to replace the position of fire? Could they believe that people can explore the secret of sky or space that is considered to be the god? Technology itself promotes our thinking to invent or discover more advanced technology.

Moreover, technology is an instrument to help us do those physical task and save more time to use our head or think. If people still try their best to do the physical task, how can they believe that technology or modern machine can help them complete it more effectively? Ever some people do a survey and turn out that our human create more wealth in recent decades than the total of past thousands of years. Only few persons of America carry on the agriculture with the help of machines and this make the most powerful and creativity country of the world. At the same time, most people of Africa have not got rid of poverty and are still living in a laggard situation. More strong and advanced technology, more time to think.

Admittedly, the technology is a double-edged sword that may bring some negative factor. Some people are content with the obtained fruits and may be lazy to think. Actually, there are some empty and laggard ages in history. For instance, the wrong opinion of sun moving round earth had existed for a long time. Although it was because of the pressure from cults and church, who can doubt that it was as a result of our arrogant substance. It seems like the past China who was self-satisfied with the ever fruits and stopped to accept the new things. And he woke up when other country use the modern weapon to break the closed door.

In conclusion, whether positive or negative results from technology, they depend on the utilizing way of people. In modern society of competition and rapid pace, a country couldn’t be a self-satisfied situation if he wants to be powerful and self-protected. An individual must keep thinking in case that society eliminates him. Don’t stop thinking if you want to survive!
