╮(╯▽╰)╭,貌似太多的if 和超级简单的句子,自己都⊙﹏⊙b汗啦
4.The following was posted on an Internet real estate discussion site.

"Of the two leading real estate firms in our town-Adams Realty and Fitch
Realty-Adams is clearly superior. Adams has 40 real estate agents. In
contrast, Fitch has 25, many of whom work only part-time. Moreover, Adams'
revenue last year was twice as high as that of Fitch, and included home
sales that averaged $168,000, compared to Fitch's $144,000. Homes listed
with Adams sell faster as well: ten years ago, I listed my home with Fitch
and it took more than four months to sell; last year, when I sold another
home, I listed it with Adams, and it took only one month. Thus, if you
want to sell your home quickly and at a good price, you should use Adams."

In this argument, the arguer recommends that if some ones want to make homes sold quickly and at a good price, Adams is the first choice, because between the two leading real estate firms, Adams is superior with more agents, higher revenue and higher average prices at last year. What's more, the author cites the personal experience as an example, which is that one home sold by Adams last year took much shorter time than another home sold by Fitch ten years ago. It is reasonable on the first face, but it lacks logical reliability, and I will give some analyses in turn.

Firstly, it is not justifiable to judge whether a company is superior depending on the number of agents, and to some extent, there is no necessary relationship between them. It may be more likely that the Fitch's agents can work much more efficiently than Adams's, so Fitch does not need to hire agents as much as Adams. In addition, under normal circumstances, more agents mean more payments for hiring. However, the wool still comes from the sheep's Back; after all, it is the consumer who pays; in the long run, whatever customers are given, they pay for it. Therefore, too many agents may be not a good thing for our customers.

Secondly, the revenue and average prices last year also lack of cogency that Adams is superior. For one thing, it is meaningless to talking about revenue without a reference to prime cost. For example, if Fitch's prime cost is less ten times than Adam's, Fitch's profit will be quite possibly much more than Adam's, although Adams got the twice revenue. For another, the author neglects to think about the actual situations of homes when mentioning the average prices. There is a future possibility that the market of Fitch is mainly on second hand houses, while Adams only sells new houses. Obviously, the price of new house is much higher than old one. We cannot make the conclusion that Adams is superior depending on revenue and average prices unless providing more evidences about the prime cost and home's conditions.

Thirdly, as for the author's personal experience, there is no reference value, not only because of the differences between two homes, but also because of the time difference. In fact, the author does not provide any information about the two homes. If the home sold ten years ago was the one which was too old and in a bad geographical position, it was reasonable that Fitch cost four months to sell, and maybe Adams would cost much more time in that event. And it is similar for the home sold last year. Meanwhile, the time difference is a big problem, because the markets are different in different years. For instance, in our country, even two houses at the same condition, it is easy to be sold in recent year than ten years ago. Moreover, it is clearly that how much the author can profit from the two homes plays vital role. Even though Adams is quicker than Fitch, there is no evidence provided to show us can fight for more profits for the author. If the home sold ten years profited more than the author expected, while the one sold last year was in the opposite, it is no need to seek such quickness.

In summary, one should know more information about the two firms and the actual condition of the under-sold home before make the final decision.
