第一篇ISSUE,求拍。大家不要客气。
Technology creates more problems than it solves, and may threaten or damage the quality of life.
Technology, especially high-technology, was developed by human beings to serve to build a better and better society. Admittedly, technology helps to solve a variety of tough problems, it causes problems as well. What influence it exerts on our life lies in that how we human utilize it.
There is no denying that it is the development of the technology that has raised people’s living standards, improved people’s quality of life by solving all kinds of problems that people have encountered in their daily life. To support this point one needs to look no further than the Internet which has been increasingly popular. It is the Internet that renders people to share large amounts of previous information, improve work efficiency and enrich our life. Also, thanks to the Internet, communications between two persons, two companies or even two countries become as easy as talking face to face. If you are a businessman or businesswoman who is always on business travel or a student studying in another place far away from your parents, you must have experienced the benefit that the Internet brings to you. Maybe once a week, or even once a day, you send an email to your family through the Internet, or have a video chart with your family. It is the Internet, a representative of modern technology that makes your life easier and you feel less lonely.
Another representative of high-tech, the robot, also contributes to improve our life. Robots are invented to help to undertake dangerous tasks which are not suitable for humans. And since robots have no such physiological limits as fatigue and distraction, robots increase the work efficiency and work accuracy. Some citizens even employ a domestic robot to help with the housework. Without robots, we would not be able to live a life standard at the current level.
However, technology is a two-edged sword. It can also cause problems without the good utilization of it. Take still the Internet as an example, the Internet may spread out personal information which people are not willing to expose to the general public; through the Internet, plagiarism becomes more easier because the Internet is almost available to everyone; crimes such as intrusion to others’ databases and net fraud form an aspect of the darkness of society. What’s more, many people are addicted to the visual world of network and just cannot adapt to the real world, thus news that reports suicides comes to people’s ears from time to time.
Though the convenience brought by robots, some people tend to become more lazy. If people did not keep an eye on the excess use of robots in all conditions, it is possible that people’s ability to labor will disappear, followed by their minds and creativity.
Every coin has two sides. And all things have two contradictory aspects, so is technology. Only when we keep a clear mind and utilize it in a proper way, will technology help more to solve problems and less to cause problems. |
