题目:ARGUMENT238 - The following appeared in a memorandum from the president of Mira Vista College to the college's board of trustees.
"At nearby Green Mountain College, which has more business courses and more job counselors than does Mira Vista College, 90 percent of last year's graduating seniors had job offers from prospective employers. But at Mira Vista College last year, only 70 percent of the seniors who informed the placement office that they would be seeking employment had found full-time jobs within three months after graduation, and only half of these graduates were employed in their major field of study. To help Mira Vista's graduates find employment, we must offer more courses in business and computer technology and hire additional job counselors to help students with their resumés and interviewing skills."

In the memo, the author concludes that Mira Vista College should increasing more business courses and hiring more job counselors to help their student better on find job. After a close analysis I find this argument is vulnerable in several aspects.
In the first place, the author neglects to consider that Green Mountain College might have less graduates than Mira Vista College last, without specific amount of the graduates each college have, we cannot evaluate which college have more graduates had jobs offers mere depend on the percentage. Since lacking specific information of the number of graduates of each college, it is possible that Mira Vista College have double number of graduates than Green Mountain College. For that matter, even only 70 percent of seniors are job offered, it still have more graduates got jobs than Green Mountain College. Without providing basic number, such a percentage does not make any sense to this argument.
In addition, even assuming that Green Mountain College(GMC hereafter) have more graduates got jobs than Mira Vista College(MVC hereafter) are, the author also fails to take into account other possible reasons which might caused this situation. For instance, it might that the quality of students in MVC are better than GMC's, which lend to those graduate requirements of their job are strict and high, resulted in they spent more time to get a satisfied job. Perhaps, most graduates of MVC are majored in industrial while majority of graduates of GMC's are majored in business. For this case, there is no doubt that GMC would have more business courses than MVC. Unfortunately, nowadays there are fewer enterprises offered jobs major in industrial, which directly lead to MVC graduates hard to be offered and employed in their major field of study. Before ruling these possibilities, the credibility of this argument is open to doubt.
Last but not least, even ruling out the possibilities listed above, the author unreasonable to assume that increasing more courses in business and computer technology and hire additional job counselor would help students in MVC turn down this situation. Considering that these two schools might be excellent in different realm, such an advice seems unreasonable, if course listed foregoing are not be welcomed to the job market in the future, would the author recommend to increase another courses? Taking such strategies is likely lead a mass in education administration.
To sum up, the evidence cited in the analysis does not lend cogent support to what the author maintains. To better access this argument, the author might have to provide more evidence to demonstrating his recommendation.
