Body4: However, whencomes to the issue that 科技决定这些。I couldn’t think of better illustration …..
make the United Stated
definitely a unique one 全世界各地的人移民,
has nothing todo with tech , it is not determined by tech.
Body5: 总结一下,尽管科技对习俗伦理的影响是有的,但不绝对。当研究后者时, something else could never be ingored.
Admittedly, technology plays a vital role on influencing the custom and ethics to someextent. However, when it comes to the thesis that technology determined customand ethic which are part of culture, I just couldn't give my consent to such anabsolute judgment. In the perspective of objective consideration, it is not thetechnology, in some cases, but some other factors which commonly exist thatbasically determine the custom and ethics issue jointly.
As a thresholdmatter, the development of custom and ethics is definitely attributed to theconvenience brought by technology in some aspects, for example, with thepresence of contemporary transportation such as vehicle, vessel and aeroplane, communicationand interaction between two different locations far away have no long beenimpossible. Meanwhile face to face contacting with citizens who have totallydifferent background becomes frequent. As a result, comprehensive understandingof custom and ethic can be obtained when all the people try to share their own.In addition, modern multimedia also impulses cultural collision. People willknow exactly the specific lifestyle and distinct characteristic of society inanother country effortlessly via invention such as television and newspaperwhich also exhibit the utilization of technology. Therefore, from above no onecould neglect the contribution of the technology that gives space to theadvancement of custom and ethics.
Furthermore, technologyalso has a negative influence on the propagation of customs and ethics. Somecustoms, as far as I am concerned, are no less that an essential component oflife in old days. For example, the entertainment such as Opera, once whatpeople did for relaxing and for fun are now become only precious legacy whichrepresent the existence of lifestyle and culture in the past, for the reasonthat they could be mostly hard to satisfy the majority who live a world filledwith high-technology and fantastic imagination. Contemporary citizens havetheir own ways to entertain. Games and chatting were common ways used to killthe time, nonetheless the Internet makes it possible that unprecedented networkcomputer games and virtual chatting room are available. Opera, which seemed tobe most enjoyable activity has gradually gave way to TV series at home and blockbusteroutside... Consequently, out-dated treasure seems to be memory from senior citizensor something else in history books; In other words, the custom, and some otherpatterns of the culture, if any, are no more than a fading illustration underthe brightness and gleam of high-technology.
Unarguably, technologyimpacts the custom and ethics significantly. However, it is still a little tooreluctant to argue that technology determines the custom and ethics .Actually,it is some other elements, rather than technology, that play a crucial role onthe determination of the custom and ethic. I could think of no better illustrationthan that of one distinct nation in the world, that is United States ofAmerica. To begin with, what make United States such a freedom, democratic anddiverse country, is it all about the developed technology? I suppose not, in thissense, it is the special background at the very beginning of its foundationthat shaped a unique country. For details, America is kind of colonial countrywhich consists of people who have distinct ethnics and hold differentconviction for example, Indian, European settlers and African . Subsequently, thatso many different factors mingled together for hundreds of years gradually formattedspecial characteristics in realms of politics, economics, cultures which cannever be found twice all around the world. Apparently, in such circumstancetechnology doesn't make any decision about how the custom and ethics willbe.
In sum, meticulous consideration of technology and other factors compelsthe consideration that although technology truly poses influence to thecultural characteristics, ingredients like historical background and regime cannever been ignored, especially referring to the elements by which the custom andethics are determined. After all, cultural issues are so complicated that thesingle word technology is far away from enough. |
