The scholars and researchers, who undertake the responsibility of promoting the society as well as the human's civilization, are always supposed to take the benefits of the larger society at the most significant status, however, there are some voices argue that their individual interests in the realms they devote in are more important. From my point of view, individual interests are the motivation of most of the researchers and scholars while there are still some of them take the study for the interests of the public initially.

First and foremost, the interest is the best teacher. Retrospect the history, we will discover a deluge of scholars who investigate the issues are motivated by the inborn interests and then turn to benefit the masses and whole society. For instance, one of the most significant physics in the 20th century, Einstein, who was regarded as a "dull" without any potential skills in the study, instead of give up the dream and interests, Einstein chose to struggle and do the research almost by himself and proposed the theory of relativity ultimately. His theory was regarded as the light in the contemporary physics and what support him insist on is his extensive interests to the unknown world. Another aptly example is Bill Gates, who always hole his interests to the telecommunication and even dropped off from the most famous university, Harvard, established his own company, Microsoft. Nowadays his company's productions are applied to almost every computer and he has become the most successful man all over the world. Without the huge passion to the computer, how can he give up so much and just for a company? Consequently, during the progress of pursuing the target, individual's interests have occupied a vital position.

Furthermore, some researches are unusual or idiosyncratic though at the first sight, the results are entirely possible have long-term influence and benefit the larger people in the future. Van Gough, whose works were treated as the useless and meaningless paintings, still hold on to his interest of creating to express his inside emotion to the whole public and life. Hundreds years later, his artistic performances are understood by the masses and valued as the fortune of our spiritual world. Tesla, who discovered the amazing function of the alternative current, had to endure the contempt coming from the surroundings and even the famous inventor, Edison, who thought his invention and theory is useless. Nevertheless, he insisted on his discovery and several years later demonstrated his theory is correct. Thanks to his enthusiasm to the interest, our life and civilization were changed at a large scale due to the alternative current. To sum up, even though what the scholars and researchers studying seems useless and even abrrent, the consequences may lead an huge innovation in the human's history.

After all, there are also a myriad of persons whose initial target of researching is to profit the public and then accomplish the achievements. One typical instance is Bell, who invented the telephone. When Bell left university, his friends all advised him to undertake the job of telegraph, which can provide him nice salary and comfortable life. However, he chose to contribute to the society and began his research of inventing the telephone and finally realized his dream as well as sped up the telecommunication to the minutes. Lu Xun, who is the hero in Chinese history for his literatures are filled with his profound thought to the people and country. His discipline in the college is the medicine but when he graduated from the college, he chose to cure the diseases in Chinese people's mind and even soul instead of body. Thus , he began his career as a writer. His performances are valued by all the Chinese people since they reveal the concentration to Chinese destiny and future. All to all, the elites who intend to serve the society can also won the success and the respect of the country and even the world.

In conclusion, when the scholars and researchers doing the research, what they should focus on is the research itself. As the study has its own meaning both the intention of benefiting the public and the pure interest to the academic realms can lead to a promising future.
