In the reading passage, the author raises the issue that the sales of fossils by private collectors have several disadvantages to not only the scientists but also the general public. The professor, however, casts doubt on the reading and states that private collection of fossils has some advantages.

First of all, the passage proposes that the general public have fewer opportunities to see the fossils which are sold to private owners.
Whereas the professor points out that a great number of private collectors are willing to hold exposition of those fossils to public schools and libraries.
这句我没有听出来,不过有听到institution and school can buy fossils because more fossils are availed Therefore, people still have access to see those fossils. C" m

In addition, the reading indicates that scientists are probably losing access to some important fossils and have no chance to discover about extinct life forms. According to the professor, it is not true at all. Because private collectors need scientists to identify the fossils first. Therefore, the fossils have to pass the scientists' hands first and scientists have the opportunities to do research on the fossils.

Finally, the reading material indicates that commercial fossil collectors might destroy the valuable fossils because they are always untrained in the careful process of collecting fossils. On contrary to this saying
改成 on the contrary 是不是好些,我不知道有没有这个表达, the professor points out that the commercial fossils collectors play an important role in revealing the fossils because they pay much money on the program to find more fossils. Without their help, many fossils might go undiscovered.3 M2 c* i- o) C7 L. @# l

In the reading, the author raises an issue that salvage logging after forest fires and severe storms is beneficial to the forest and economy. However, the professor provides several reasons to cast doubt on the reading.
First of all, the reading states that salvage logging can make room for the fresh growth which is essential for the forest to recover. According to the professor, the salvage logging causes many environmental problems because it doesn't creat necessary room for the new trees and moves the soil out of the forest which is important for the fresh groeth.
In addition, the reading passage indicates that salvage logging is beneficial to the forest because it moves the decaying wood which is habitat for insects. However, the professor claims that decaying wood is not only used by insects but also birds. She provides evidence that some insects have not much harmful effects to the forest in the long run.
Finally, the reading states that salvage logging has economic benefits because it can provide wood and job opportunities for local residents. On the contrary, the professor casts doubt on the reading and provides that benefits is small and not last very long. People use helicoptor to move the dacaying wood which is very expensive. What's more, the company prefer wo hire people with experience from other areas rather than local residents.
Based on the perspective, the lecture effectively challenges the author.

In the reading passage, the author raises the issue that four-day workweek has many advantages for companies and employees even the whole country. However, the professor casts doubt on the saying for the following reasons:
First of all, the reading states that companies will benefit a lot from four-day workweek because employees feel more rested and alert after the weekend. According to the professor, companies may spend more to add new employees to do the same amount of work because they need to pay for the new ones' training and medical fees. What's more, companies need to provide more office space, computers and other stuffs. All of these things cost too much.
In addition, the author claims that employees benefit from four-day workweek because they have more free time to improve the quality of their lives. However, the professor proposes that that's not the truth because decrease in salary means decrease in the quality of life to some extent. Also, having less work time may lead to decrease in employees' job ability, even opportunities of promotion. What's worse, they are the first to lose their job during the recession period because companies prefer people that work for five days a week better.
Finally, on the contrary to the author, the professor states that four-day workweek will not provide more job opportunities. Because the truth is that if there is four-day workweek option, companies may raise expection that the employees can do all the work in four days that they were supposed to do in  five days. Therefore, no job opportunites will be provided.
Based on this perspective, the lecture effectively challenge the author.

In the reading, the author indicates that having a team of people do a projct enjoys many advantages. However, the professor casts doubt on the reading by explaining an example of a company.
First of all, some people in the team do little contribution to the team work. Although the reading claims that people in the group tend to have a wider range of knowledge, the truth is that some people in the group do not contribute much to the project. Because there are many people who are responsible for the project, those who do not work very well will not be blamed singlely. Those people who contribute greatly to the project get no personal reward even no name on the job, so their attitude will change to be negative.
In addition, a team of people make the job more time-consuming. On the contrary to the reading which indicates that team can work quickly, the lecture states that it takes long time to reach a conclusion because there are many people and most of their opinion are different. They need to hold many meeting to discuss and reach a conclusion.
Finally, the leader of the group whose opinion influence the team's decision much more than ordinary team members. According to the reading, the process can be rewarding to take part in the group. The lecture totally disagree with the saying because some high creative suggestions suggested by ordinary team members tend to be ignored by others without discussion just because they are not the leaders. What's more, if the project fails at last, all the team members will be blamed.
Based on the perspective, the lecture effectively challenge the passage.
