TOPIC: ISSUE131 - "The arts (painting, music, literature, etc.) reveal the otherwise hidden ideas and impulses of a society."

All arts grow out of life but are the distillation of life. In the artistic works, they contain much information, such as unveiled ideas and impulses, which reflect the status of society in their age. However, the reflection of arts is not enough. Human-being, who want to button down the society in some age, should take others measures like researching scientific history rather than artistic works alone.

Admittedly,artistic works which most of material came from the realistic world present the people a vivid sense of the society. To that extent, I agree with the speaker's point. In my observation,art is the classification of accidental events and the set of splendid value. In an artistic work, the experience it contained will not be come though by everybody, but the artists, who created the it, is likely bring some contemporary social thoughts in his product. The Divine Comedy created by Dante was turned out in the Renaissance. This long poet condemned the evil of the religious govern which constrain the human's thoughts and activities. Obviously, it was just the outcome of the social instability in the period when people have strong desire to break the religious shackle.

Moreover, the arts were not only come from daily life but also the macrocosm of our world. They absorbed the essence of the material from society and elevated into a higher levels than the common substance. The theme song named " I and You" of Beijing Olympic game is a good example,it indicates that our world should live in harmony as one family and draws a picture without wars, poverty, and racial prejudice to meet current thoughts that people look forward to having a beautiful life. Just for the simple song, the urgent desire of human-being to live better after enduring the hardship made by their own is emerged spontaneously. Therefore, when a feeling or an obscure social phenomenon is hardly expressed by language or gesture, human tend to convey it into the artistic works. So art contains so many meanings of the society that human could reveal some unknown thoughts and impulses to some extend.

Nevertheless, the arts are not the only way to present the hidden social ideas. Undoubtedly, for the complexity of social phenomenon and the limitation of artists' ability, artistic works are impossible to reveal all ideas and impulses in the society. For the reason, human should use other measures to unveil the concealed problems and opinions that the arts are unable to reflect, such as scientific development. For example,the three industrial revolutions not only have deep impact on the human daily life but also lead to the social transformation. Each of them owes to the needs of advancing the civilization and the desire of human to ameliorate their life. Through the study of scientific development, a lot of social phenomenon will unfold before us.

In sum, society is a complex system that embraces not only the thoughts from different kinds of people but also the influence these people react to their era. Therefore, in order to unveil the hidden ideas and impulses in special society calls for us not depend on the artistic works alone, and should take other effective measures.

However, the  reflection merely of/through arts is not/far from enough to reveal the ideas and impulses of a society(句子意思要完整）. Hence(连接词）, human-being, who want to button down/pass down ideas and impulses of(不明白你的短语是什么意思，如果是传递的意思，推荐pass down) the society in some age, should take others/other measures, like researching scientific history(研究科学的历史？.....) ,rather than artistic works alone.

Undoubtedly, for/considering the complexity of social phenomenon and the limitation of artists' ability/function, artistic works are impossible to reveal all ideas and impulses in the/of a society. For the reason, human should use other measures to unveil the concealed problems and opinions that the arts are unable to reflect, such as studying(前面说通过其他方法，这里直接来了一个科学发展，概念不相对，我都看了好几遍才从后面发现这里的问题 ）scientific development. For example,the three industrial revolutions not only have deep impact on the human/people's(不确定你的对不对） daily life but also lead to the social transformation. Each of them owes to/resulted from或者emerged from the needs of advancing the/evolving civilization and the desire of human/human's desire to ameliorate/improve the quality of their life. Through the study of scientific development, a lot of social phenomenon（没有紧扣题目，ideas and impulses,不是phenomenon) will unfold before us.

In sum, society is a complex system that embraces/compromising not only the thoughts from different kinds of people but also the influence these people react to their era. Therefore, in order to unveiling the hidden ideas and impulses in/of a special society calls for us not to depend on the artistic works alone, and/but should/also take other effective measures.
