The following appeared in a memorandum from the president of Mira Vista College to the college's board of trustees.
"At nearby Green Mountain College, which has more business courses and more job counselors than does Mira Vista College, 90 percent of last year's graduating seniors had job offers from prospective employers. But at Mira Vista College last year, only 70 percent of the seniors who informed the placement office that they would be seeking employment had found full-time jobs within three months after graduation, and only half of these graduates were employed in their major field of study. To help Mira Vista's graduates find employment, we must offer more courses in business and computer technology and hire additional job counselors to help students with their resumés and interviewing skills."

The argument is well-presented, but not thoroughly well-reasoned. First, there are flaws in evidence. In addition, false analogy facet is obviously. Finally, the conclusion falls to consider the feasibility of the conclusion. I will discuss them in turn.

Firstly, the author do not show any information about whether GM college graduating students had found full-time jobs within three months after graduation and more than half of these graduates were employed in their major field of study. So we cannot infer that GM College is better than MV College or have the same condition as MV College in these aspects. Maybe GM college`s graduating seniors had job offers more later than MV college`s and most of them do not find job in their major study, it cannot conclude GM college is better than MV at lease in these aspects. Even if GM College have the same condition or better than MV College, the author do not tell us actually amount of GM College and MV College, so we cannot conclude the 90 percent is efficient to illustrate GM College better than MV College when compare to 70 percent. Perhaps MV College have much more graduating seniors than GM`s, though GM College have 90 percent seniors can find job offers, it still failure when compare with MV college.

Moreover, the argument do not consider other aspects that make MV cannot compare with GM college, such as maybe GM college have more opportunities to find a job than MV college, or perhaps GM college`s majors are facing to find job while MV college`s majors do not, or possible MV college`s graduating seniors taken into PHD programs, so they do not want to find a job while GM college do not.

Finally, even if MV College have the same condition to GM College and MV College is really worse than GM College, the result that caused the GM College more success than MV College may not the business courses and job counselors, maybe there are other fields makes GM college superior, such as better professors, better study environment, better libraries. Even if it is these courses makes GM college become better, we cannot conclude that business and computer technology and job counselors is effective when apply to MV college. Maybe MV College has already expected at computer technology skills, or maybe business courses in MV college students do not be favored. Also, the resumes and interviewing skills may not the goal for job counselors training; perhaps they are good at resumes and interviewing skills but lack of self-confidence in job counselors.

Above all, I have discuss the facets in the argument, the argument should be improved to support more evidence about the time of finding jobs and major situations in GM college and the actually number of
job offers graduating seniors had get. What`s more, the author should give the situation on GM college and MV college. Finally, the argument should well-reasoned by support the fact the GM college`s biz courses and job counselors are fit in MV college.
