In the reading passage, it states three reasons to prove that wood companies in the United States will not chase the ecocertification by adopting ecologically friendly practices. The professor, however, dose not agree with this idea. He claims that this three proofs were not convincing.

First, American consumers are able to distinguish the advertising claims by the companies themselves from the claims by the independent certification agency. That is 'they won't treat advertisements the same. In other words, they will trust the latter claims. This directly contradicts what the passage indicates.

Second, the American do choose the the ecocertified ones in order to protecting environment when the price differences between woods are small enough. However the writer's opinion is that American consumers would choose the uncertified wood as they are cheap.

Finally, the writer claims that American wood company sell almost all of their products in the United States, accordingly, they don't have to keep up with the developments in the rest of the world, the professor argues, however, that because American consumers would like to choose the ecocertified wood, if American wood company don't keep pace with the world in the ecocertification, their abroad competitors will crowd into the market, and they will lose the market.

Practically, the reasons in the reading passage are disputed by the lecture and it's good for American wood companies to receive ecocertification.

Second, the Americans do choose the the ecocertified ones (What? Companies?) in order to protecting the environment when the price differences between woods are small enough. However the writer's opinion is that American consumers would choose the uncertified wood as they are it is cheap.

Finally, the writer claims that American wood companies sell almost all of their products in the United States. Accordingly, they don't have to keep up with the developments in the rest of the world. The professor argues, however, that because American consumers would like to choose the ecocertified wood, if American wood companies don't keep pace with the world in the ecocertification, their abroad competitors from abroad will crowd into the market, and they will lose the market share.

Practically, the reasons in the reading passage are disputed by the lecture, and it's good for American wood companies to receive ('Receive' is a passive word. From the context of this article, I think 'obtain' is a better word.) ecocertification.
