Governments should focus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future."
Should governments focus more on solving the immediate problems of today rather than tring to solve the anticipated problems of the future? I concede that many emergent social problems must be dealed with at the first time for the sake of contemporary public development. However, focusing on the anticipated problems is a provident endeavor for the sake of better future. Moreover solving current problems also benefit the future to some extent.
Admittedly, focusing on the world's most persistent social problems serve the interests of all people. Nowadays, we human beings are facing a lot of social problems such as starvation, terrorism, epidemic, and so forth, which are so urgent that we need to deal with them as soon as possible. (个人觉得,这些问题有点像长期anticipated的那种,比较典型的短期问题有earthquake, inflation , war, financial cirsis)For the people who are suffering those pressing problems, governments should pay more attention to their current difficult situation rather then caring the unpredicted problems of the future. Consider, for instance, a person in a society is hungry or out of work or lack the basic skills needed to survive, the use of the public resources to help solve the anticipated problems is inappropriate--and, perhaps, even cruel--when one condisers(considers) all the potential uses of such money(这个思想可能不太被老外理解,可以写的更加明确点 ,such money 指代不明). To another extent(In other situations可能比较好些), complexities and difficulties caused by international situation also need to be solved immediately without hesitation, such as crisis and war threat, all of which are relevant to our contemporary socity(society). Considering problems above, I think it is justifiable to focus on solving the immediate problems of today.
However, while considering the many, immediate social problems, we should not neglect the anticipated problems of the future, as solving the anticipated problems seems to be a provident long-term endeavor. History tells us kinds of existing social problems have their chronic sources. (这句话看了很久也没看懂)Take enviromental problems relevant to the technology for instance. The pollutions from cars, which are realized (as)the chief cause of global wrming(warming), and other serious problems like the thinning of the atmosphere's protective ozone level, the extinction of large number species, and the dramatic decline in fish in the ocean. All these problems are impossible to solve in one generation, since they contain chronic factors, so it is conceivable that we should endeavor to preserve our enviroment from now on. Thus we should also make great efforts to solve the anticipated problems of the future.(这一段不太有说服力)
Finally, in my observation, measures taken to solve the current problems benefit our future as well, in another word(in other words), solving many current problems not only help instruct contemporary social stableness, but also does good to our next generation. A telling example comes to education. If scholars merely cast attention to present situations about children and teenage, they may find the solutions seem inadequate to so many problems and complexities. However, whem at the same time examine some adult actually of value system and orientations, scholars will obtain worthy inspiratons and illuminations.(这个提法很好,学习啦。但是例子我也没看太懂, 再找点例子啦,很多的,比教育的这个恰当,比如美国治理金融危机,改善金融体制,是不是对以后的长期的经济健康发展也有好处呢?)
In sum, as far as I concerned, problems of contemporary society and anticipated problems of the future are interacted, thus the governments should not partial emphasize either one.(关于这篇文章的中心是否应该明确的说谁重要,我请教了其他同学,他们的看法不太一致,有的是说应该写明二者同等重要或者A>B,你认为呢?
