In this era of dramatic social andtechnological development changing people’s everyday lives, perhaps every oneof us has already taken a lot of benefits from the advanced technology. Ofcourse, such advanced technology is the contribution of our scientific researcherswho dedicate in the ceaselessly scientific research. However, whether it ismore important for our scholars and researchers to pursue their own interests, nomatter how unusual or idiosyncratic they might be, rather than think about iftheir work can make a contribution to the society is open to question.

First of all, undoubtedly, it is technologythat brings us unprecedented convenient and comfortable lives. When feeling thirstyand hot, we only need to open the fridge to get a tin of cool Cola; whenfeeling cold, we just need to push a button to turn on the air-conditioner; whenfeeling lonely, we simply need to call our friends for chatting. This kind oflife is so nice that some of us tend to think that to be a common person inpresent is even better than a king in past.

So, by this token, we should support our scientificresearches. Without which, our lives could not be that wonderful. As iswidely-accepted, interest is the best teacher, our scientists will pay muchmore energy and time in the projects which they are interested in, thus theefficiency will be greatly increased. So, it is right for our researchers topursue their individual interests, no matter how unusual or idiosyncratic theymight be. Because maybe the pursuing for an unusual interest seems meaningless today,their achievements are possibly be wildly used in the further.

Simply put, to do the research worksfollowing one’s own interest is the right choice. In addition, most of thesignificant discovery is achieved by accidents, so it is hard for a scientistto exactly control the direction where their research will go, let alone concerning aboutwhether their works could make a contribution to the larger society.

However,if the interest of the scientist is evil or the research result will surelydamage the happy live of common people, then our researchers should reallyconsider about whether it should be done. Such as the hacker, who is an expertin the filed of computer science but what he or she does will threaten thesecurity of the internet, as well as bring crimes to our society. And thescientist who wants to clone a man is another demonstration, because his or herpursuing offends the ethics, and this will cause myriad social moral problems.

To sum up, although it is important for ourscholars and researchers to pursue their own interests, even if the interestsseem unusual or idiosyncratic, it is still not right for them to consider nothingabout whether their interests have offended the social ethics or the socialmorals. So, our scientists should know that pursuing ones own interests isnoting to be blame, but as a citizen, his or her first duty is to be responsibleto the society, in that, our scientists had better do something good, at leastnot damageable for the social development.

To sum up, although it is important for ourscholars and researchers to pursue their own interests, even if the interests seem unusual or idiosyncratic, it is still not right for them to consider nothing about whether their interests have offended the social ethics or the social morals. So, /So our scientists should know that pursuing ones own interests is noting to be blame, but as a citizen, his or her first duty is to be responsibleto the society, in that, our scientists had better do something good, at least not damageable for the social development.
