When it comes to whether the technologies cast an influential and determinative impact on social customs and ethics, the author's answer is yes. True to some extent, technologies have influenced and changed the tradition of society significantly; however, it is not to say that technology is the only elements that counts for change, moreover, we should realize things in society and people's heart that persist despite change.

Admittedly, technology plays an consequential role in altering social customs. The advent of sophisticated tools emancipate people from previous occupations and motivates them to new jobs for better lives, and thus the way people live gradually changed. An apt illustration involves the Industrial Revolution, In which the fundamental technological development changed the method of producing. The Industrial Revolution led to the growth of cities as people moved from rural areas into urban communities in search of work, and thus the transformation on the tradition of society. Another example is the invention of automobile, from the growth of economy to the method of transportation, it forever altered the modern society. Without the serious inventions and discoveries, perhaps now we are still working on the corn field like our grandfathers did, let alone using computers and surfing the Internet.

Granted that technology is one element that determines our social customs, it is absolutely not the only. It is judicious to take other factors into account, such as climate, history, religion and location. As technology, these factors also exert influence on the tradition of society. For example, the ice hockey is especially popular in Canada for the icy and snowy climate there. But it is hard to image that there is a tradition of playing ice hockey in sweltering Africa. It is the natural environment that makes the prevailing of this kind of sport in Canada but not in Africa, definitely not technology. And consider the Thanksgiving Day in America, which is originally celebrated by the English Pilgrims with the Native Americans for their kindness and goodwill. Surely, this tradition is traced to the history of America, not the technology either.

Making my analysis a systematical and reasonable one, we should notice that not all the social customs and ethics could be influence by the factors mentioned above. As a matter of fact, something persists in our hearts and society despite the advancement of technology, the alteration of climate and so forth. For supporting instance, the fidelity to our friends, the faith to our country, the diligence to our work and the love to our lives are cherished by every kind hearts and regarded as the core of ethics. In fact, these personalities are handed down generation by generation, sustain us to withstand difficulties and spark us to struggle for a better tomorrow.

After analyzing all the aspects of this issue, I think I have managed to clarify the relation between technologies and social customs and ethics. Technology is one yet the only element that can influence the tradition of our society, and the core of our ethics toward truth, kindness and beauty would never change.
