11"All nations should help support the development of a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems."
I totally agree with the speaker`s claim that a global university should be eatablished by the endeavor of the nations all over the world ,designed to engage students in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems. There are too many problems which need to be solved by us human beings that many people feel desperate for our future. However it is the hope for the brighter future that give us strength and confidence to believe in that there must be a reasonable solution to every problem. Here it comes. As always claimed, the future of our planet laied in the students, thereupon we should try to eatablish a world university to solve the current problems.
Firstly,as i have claimed, there are too many problems waiting for the solutions that a certain number of nations lack in the ability to solve them. Therefor,we need to combine the power of all the nations all over the world to make an effect to offer a better earth to our next or even next next generation. Which sounds great may not so easy for us. First, small nations cannot properly deal with a sudden disaster such as earthquake, tornado or vocalno eruption. Take Hatti earthquake as an example. It is impossible for Hatti to recover from the disorder and damage of the disaster so quickly without the help of the internatonal society. Look at the H5N1 flu. Many countries suffered a lot from the prevalence of the virus that could kill person in a short time. I cannot imagine what would happen if the UN had not take effective measures to combine the nations to fight the cruel enemy internationally.
Indeed, the students are the future of not only the hope of every familiy but also the workd. From my personal perspective, the best way to pretect human being against the negative of the world's most persistent social problems is undoubtedly to cultivate the students to attain skills about how to fight with the above problems. Of course there remain myriad of other options in front of us besides the choice of establishing a global university. Nonetheless, just as Backon ever said, what i still remember but not very exact-- knowledge and only konwledge can pass us the power to change the world to be a better one. Let come back to the H5N1 flu. What you will do with a patient suffering from it if we lack in the fundemental knowledge about the symptom of the illness? Or think about the war,how can we rule out the possibilities if our next generation even have no idea about how owesome the war is?
Thus, the first step we take shoud be the education, especially the global unibersities.
Besides,i maintain a bviewpoint that we could not only put the emphasis on how to solve probles associated with social issues but also on a wilder range---the arts, the sports and the science. We need new technology to boost our society, which may seem such a chanllege for on nation to fulfill---think about the Galilio Program of the europe,a program aiming at establish a totally new "GPS" by way of launching about twenty four satelites. Neither France nor any others nations of europe can achieve the goal independently. Take art as another example, without communicating the arts cannot become so various as now. Let us look at the Renaissance,it is the communication of the revolutionary thought that made the europe become the paradise of the most developed knowledge, which caused the economic boost. Thus we should pay more attention to the globale issues related to the art and acience as well as art.
In sum, i cannot agree more with the author`s idea that a global university should be eatablished by the endeavor of the nations all over the world ,designed to engage students in the process of solving the world's most persistent social problems, because there are so many recent problems and education is the most wisdom way to solve the above problems. Additionally,we should pay more attention to globales issues associated with the art and science as well as society. |
