       The author asserts that the study of history has value insofar as   the   extent that it is relevant to our daily lives.From my view point,I agree that the study of history is valuable when it comes to daily life .Nonetheless,its value also lies on other factors even someone study history just for personal interest.
      The things happening now are the repeats of yesterday's to some extent.For this reason,history is valuable being of use as a source reference for the similar cases in the future.In Doyle's novel,the famous detective Sherlock Holmes once said that every criminal case has ever happened in the history.As well as the things goes in the novel,Hitler's army strangled to survive as a result of his conceited plan and ignoring Napoleon's failure in Russia.Though our society is changing greatly every,it is not different for us to find similar case to be mirror in the history.
      For the reason in last paragraph,we can make regard history as our teachers of daily life.By building confidence and getting energy from  Mahatma Gandhi's strong convictions and unremitting efforts , treasuring the value of peace as consequence of remembering the pains which are given by wars,we learn form the history to better our society.Both good examples and bad cases are the legacy history leave us.And it show its value when we study them and use them to guide our daily life.I think it is the reason why Francis Bacon pointed out that history makes men wise.
      However,history's value  not only lies on the cases that when it is relevant to our daily life but also other aspects.Considering that many of us appreciate Michelangelo's sculptures while it can not lengthen our lives as well as speed our technology's development. Being as treasure of the whole society,Michelangelo's products and theories of sculpture are also valuable even they are not related to our daily life tightly.An more controversial example is the study of the things which are a matter of indifference such as the cavaliers' life style of medieval age.It seems be noon of value studying such kind of thing.With the respect of that the researchers study this for their interests and enjoy doing so,we can conclude that it is also valuable.The study of history may not exert an influence on our daily life directly,but many get fun in studying it and appreciating the achievements in our history.Taking this into consideration,the study of history which is not related to our daily life tightly is also valuable.
        To sum up,the speaker's claim is poorly supported by empirical evidence.And it lacks credibility when comes to an individual's point of view.The study of history do has great value when it is related to daily life.At the same time ,other studies are also valuable especially for those who enjoy studying them.
