The first people handed the intangible treasury—history—to us by sagas, readings, and even tools. There are three basic values of history studying, such as prediction, introspection, and understanding ourselves. I concede the study of history plays a crucial role in society's progress, but, considering the functions of history studying, I insist that relevant to our daily lives is not the necessary condition for history study.

Through the study of history, human race predicts the future to help people to evade disasters or grasp bliss. Some predictions influence our lives widely. The weather report is typical instance. After analyzing and processing the historical weather data, researcher can predict the future weather roughly. Following the report becoming more accurate, most people have never eliminated the weather report from daily lives. But, there also exist other predictions through history studying is unrelated with daily lives. For example, depending on the research of social stratum conflicts in the past, professionals can predict the future evolution of social patterns. This result does not influence our daily lives now, though it may be important for socialists or politicians.

Another advantage of the study of the history is introspection, which is not only relevant to our daily lives but for whole society. This introspection contains scientific introspection, social introspection, and culture introspection. It is simple to understand, the history of science and technology is significant reference for scientific research. Whether the historical research method or the historical statistics, scientists cannot abandon them in their working. Similarly, history study plays same roles in social and culture. By the introspection of historical social problems or historical events, people could get better ideas to solve today's problem, or these experience could keep for the next generation. For example, Nero, the ancient emperor of Roman, makes the empire almost collapse with his mad behaviors. From that time, to avoid muddleheaded emperors, Romans begin to choose the emperor on basis of his talents not his blood. These results always are not related to our daily lives.

The last function of history researching is help human being to understand themselves better. Without the study of history, people always cannot know where our ancestors come from, how our ancestors live with and so on. Yet these historical tales or traces help us to identify ourselves in modern society, which is something like our names. In this way, people acquire the intense feeling of belonging to. Moreover, on basis of identifying ourselves through history studying, human race usually get a giant satisfactory, because you might find some historical people have same experience with you, or someone have same views with you. The feeling is like the historical consolation which is also unrelated with our daily lives.

In sum, the value of history studying contains many, and different people have different comprehension with it. Moreover, there indeed exist important values which are relevant to our daily lives. But, after evaluating the functions objectively, among diverse values, we discover not every value of history studying is relevant to our daily lives.
