164.Claitown University needs both affordable housing for its students and a way to fund the building of such housing. The best solution to this problem is to commission a famous architect known for experimental and futuristic buildings. It is common knowledge that tourists are willing to pay money to tour some of the architect's buildings, so it can be expected that tourists will want to visit this new building. The income from the fees charged to tourists will soon cover the building costs. Furthermore, such a building will attract new students as well as donations from alumni. And even though such a building will be much larger than our current need for student housing, part of the building can be used as office space.
To begin with, the author erroneously asserts that the new building by the famous architect will atract enough money to offset the cost of building the dormitory. When we hire an architect in charge of the design of the new house, we also take the risk that not all art works by famous architects are masterpieces that can attract people to spend time and money to see. And we should take into account that it costs much more to hire a famous architect which may be expire the budget. Besides, in order to keep attractiveness, the building needs to be protected and maintained regularly which also costs a large amount of money. In this case, the author fails to prove that the tourist fee will be enough to pay for the maintanence let alone the initial cost.

Furthermore, even if the new dorm will be attractive to tourists, the author unfairly assumes that the university will receive more donations from the alumi due to the new building, and that new students are willing to come because of the same reason. In my view the alumi's donations are based on their love of their schools and teachers that once cultivated them to lead to their current successes instead of the facilities. It is totally possible that the donations will decrease because the alumi think that their university doesn't need money at the moment after seeing the new luxurious building. Also the living condition like how is the dormitory building like is a less important factor for students when choosing which university to apply for. What they really concern is other things like the teaching qualities and experimental facilities. As a result, the new building will be useless in attracting funds and new students.

Finally, even assuming that it will attract more funds from tourists and alumi, it may be inconvenient for students to live in such a dormitory which is frequently disturbed by tourists and is used partly as office space. Dormitory is a place for relax and sleep. In all likelihoood, the disturbance by the tourists and the offices will greatly affect the resting time of the students, which will probably further affect their study. The severe end result is that the quality and the reputation of the university will be harmed in the long term.
