Does the study of history have value only to the extent that it relevant to our daily lives, as the speaker assert? I agree with this statement to some extent. First, it is undeniable that the study of history is of great significance and benefit our daily lives. Second, the study of history can also gives us examples of great persons of history and tells us much about future.

First, it is no denying that the study of history has profoundly value. History, then, provide the only extensive materials available to study the human condition. It also focuses attention to the complex processes of social change, including the factors that are causing around us today, without mere abstraction. Therefore the study of history can help us understand and appreciate the values and ideals, which enhance the understanding of our nation and even the world. Thus, the study of history is meaningful for lives of our human beings from history.
Second, studying history can embolden us, lift our spirits or avoid the repeating mistakes. Studying history not onl tells us y certifiable heroes, the great man and women of history who successfully worked through moral dilemmas, but also more ordinary people who provide lessons in courage, diligence or constructive protest. For instance, a student encouraged by the courage and tenacity’s of histories great social activists such as Martin Luther King might decide as a result to pursue a career in anthropology, sociology. Even for people not inclined to pursue these sorts of careers, studying historical examples of courage and tenacity in the face of setback can provide impetus to face their own personal fears in life. On contrast, the mistakes of the past teach us make no more similar mistakes again. A typical example is Adolf Hitler who was the Satan and exterminating angel feared and heated by all others. His political scheme and strategy that had created a dividing live in the history of this turbulent and tormented century is undeniable. This bitter experience teaches us that extremism should be strictly prohibited.

Furthermore, history is the guidepost to a better understanding of our own future. In the Prince, 16th century Italian philosopher Machiavelli wrote, “whoever wishes to foresee the future must consult the past, for human events ever resemble those of preceding times. Thus, history, in other words can tell us much about future. There is much to learn from looking at past visions of the shape of things to come – not to be amused or to feel superior, but rather to understand the innately humanity and the development trends of things. For instance, most of the forecast we deal with today, such as 2012 Doomsday Prophecy, actually use history because the prophets assume a connection among the past, present, future events. As we know, the types of connection on which predictions are based as well as the success rate of those predictions, very hugely.
