The author asserts that the artist has exerted a great contribution to the development of the society, yet the critic do nothing to it. It is generally accepted that large quantities of consequential artworks have reflected the full panoply history of human being. However, we shouldn't ignore that the critic have also played an essential role in the society. Thus, in my own perspective, I harbor that both the artist and critic have devote their life to create some lasting value of the art to the society.

First of all, the artist surely creates some profound works full of aesthetic values. These masterpieces endow us a pair of eyes to feel our life. Sunflowers, created by the world famous painter Vincent van Gogh show the fulfillment of seeing all angles of the spectrum of life; Ludwig van Beethoven's ninth symphony expresses the firm determination to take the fate by the throat; Jane Eyre wrote by Charlottee Bronte encourages us to pursue for love and equality. All these influential works have showed us a picture of the colorful and beautiful life. Thus, they enrich our mental world largely.

At the same time, critics have become a bridge linking the audience and artist. It helps the audience to be a good reader, even an excellent connoisseur .Sometimes it is too difficult for some laymen to understand the true meaning of some masterpieces ,such as One Hundred Years of Solitude or War and Peace, or the readers may not have truly understood the connotation the composers want to convey. In these cases, the critic's reviews have become a leader for the audiences as the critic is much more familiar with the artists style and their works. It may guide the readers to catch the main point the author attempts to express via his artworks. Thus the critics have played an irreplaceable role in transmitting the lasting value of the artist's masterpieces.

Admittedly, the critic also plays a pushing role in the development of the society. It is generally believed that it is the critics that make some artists with their genius unrecognized acquainted by the public. There is no better illusion than Vincent van Gogh. In his lifetime, there is almost nobody to appreciate his works and only one of his painting was sold . However, when the clear-sighted critics noticed this pervious piece and attracted almost all over the world to pay attention on this talented painter. Then the lasting value of Vincent van Gogh was revealed to the public and spread through the ages. Therefore some famous artist's successful can't separate from the critic's contribution. Meanwhile, some incisive criticism can not only help the artists evaluate their works but also find new directions ,even result in some better works.

In conclusion, the relationship between the artist and critic is not opposite but complementary. The lasting value of the artist's work are recognized by the critic's tireless effort , while the critic promotes the art's development.
