TOPIC: ISSUE99 - "In any realm of life-whether academic, social, business, or political-the only way to succeed is to take a practical, rather than an idealistic, point of view. Pragmatic behavior guarantees survival, whereas idealistic views tend to be superceded by simpler, more immediate options."

I tend to disagree with the speaker that the evaluation of the practicism is more over than idealism and the idealistic views are destined to be substituted by the simpler, more immediate options. In my view of point, the importance of the idealism far transcends the practicism.
Admittedly, in some small region of the life, the simple and immediate view can bring people the most obvious profit. Take the job for example, many workers go to work in the morning and come back home at night, which can accumulate the earning of the employment, if the employee fails to work for a few days without proper excuse, and then part of his salary will be deducted. So, in order to keep a stable profit, the majority of the workers maintain a practical mind, and every day they do the same work and come across the same figures.
However, if the country wants to keep on developing, only through practical action can not accomplish, and what's more important is
to have an idealistic view. As we common known, there exists magnetic field around the surface of the earth besides in the inner earth, but we fails to gain the ability to see it, and in order to express it, our scientists use the magnetic field line, which is totally by idealism instead of practicism, to depict the magnetic field, so without this idealism, our offspring can not easily to understand the abstract concept, whose configuration can not be observed by our eyes.
Meanwhile, when our great scientist Newton concludes the three laws of motion, he also employs the idealism opinion, if not, we can not be believed that the three laws are meaningful. Take one law for example, every objec would keep stable moving or static, when there was no outside force impels on it. Nevertheless, as far as I am concerned, no moving body can be found existing without force in the earth, like the moving cars, they have many forces impelling on them, and one of the most important forces is the friction, in our modern technology, we can not total diminish the friction, so we can not find real object that will keep moving without the traction, in this term of the view, the law of motion has no worth to human being, but the fact is that the law plays a vital role in humanity, and Newton uses a idealistic view to explain his laws, which are completely accepted by the people.
Finally, the speaker's view may applicable to some certain realm of the basic life, while, when we consider the entire history of the human kind, we believe that the idealism performs a crucial factor and its merit transcends the practicism, and we have no reason to replace the idealistic views with simple and immediate options. |
