Does society not place enough emphasis on the intellect-that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills, as speaker assert? While the speak might overlook the benefits of nurturing certain emotions and feelings, I agree that it is by way of our heads other than our hearts that we can best ensure the well-being of our society. However, the emotions and feelings are also important in our quatidian life.
On the one hand, adimittedly, the development of the society and technology depends on whether enough attention has been paid to the intellect- that is, on reasoning and other congnitive skills. Thomas Edisan invented bulb which turn out to be the deviration of today's illumination apparatus and digital and electronical era. In addition, in the history of discovering the chemical elements, alkali metals were discovered because batteries were invented and used in chemistry experiment; the discovery of the elements Rd. and Cs. was attributed to the technique adavancement in the realm of optics. Although, there are chances for these so great results and the scientists paid so much efforts to invent or discover them, there is no doubt that all of the scientists are intellect. Everyone believe that the intellect is so important to promote the development of the society and technology.
On the other hand, all persons are the human being who have a great deversity of emotions. We can laugh, cry, depressed when we encounter diffirent things in our quatidian life. We don't like and we can not live without emotion. The workers who do their job with the light in some manufacting line could reduce the tense and fatigue from the whole day work. It is known that the efficiency  not only is related to the intellect but also have association with the emotions and feelings. As a head of Psycologist at my university said " I can not only give the knowlege to the students in my department, more important also guide them how to be in a proper psycological condition to handle the difficults both in the study and life. Although I hope all of the students will be excellent, it is more important that they are "normal" persons in the society.
In sum, the balance of the intellect and emotions and feelings is very inportant. The society could not be developed without intellect-that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills. At the mean time, the society could not be maintained if the persons do not have the normal emotions and feelings。
