Although it seems to be quite urgent for the government to figure out current problems, as the speaker states, in the long run the radical way to solve any potential problems, either today or future, is through a far-sighted view.
Admittedly, with the development of technology, things have been changed a lot and bring them with increasingly more side product. Also since the standard of people's living condition is in a constant process of updating, numerous requirement for a better and a problem-clean environment has become the critical responsibility of government which is supposed to keep the society as stable as possible by means of eliminating obstacles set on the way in which the nation could develop towards a more harmonious one. Therefore whether the government is effective in serving the public is best assessed through the way in which it finds the solution to those tough problems. For example, the common social issues such as breakout of a certain epidemic virus. Apparently, even if the nation is facing a perfect opportunity to develop its economy during that critical time, however no achievement will be obtained unless it place the utmost emphasis on guaranteeing the safety of public and assure them of the will to fight against such disease.
When it comes to some issues which usually last for a much longer time, it is the government which should place a more pivotal role in solving such problems. Although the result might not so serious in a short period, notice that many immediate problems facing today are on a large part from the past when we thought it would be a future case. Citing the pollution of environment will easily demonstrate this. If by immediate, the speaker means those currently do little harm to the development of human society, then the gradually emitting of car waste gas into the air will not qualify as a problems for now, even though scientist has warmed that severe consequences will soon become reality. It is just worried that when the day really comes, nobody could do nothing but regret. Some may argue that certain measures has been taken by some developed countries, however the endeavors are far from enough to effectively "solve" these long-term problems and at most slow the speed by which it approaches the final day. Therefore in my observation, those anticipated problems overweigh the immediate ones in terms of importance.
Finally, given that the continuing process of human development, we should put our eye to a far place where potential problem will happen unless we now take necessary measures to avoid that. After all, solving the immediate problems serve to our purpose of make future life better. Besides, the span between now and future give us time to look for well-conceived ideas or best solution to the potential problems.
In sum, merely focusing on current one seems to be compelled by force which results in anxiety, nervousness and dismay; however careful consideration of future could benefit us in a more appropriate way of make life easier and more effective.
