The author states that too much emphasis has been placed on individuals, but groups of people maybe a little bit were ignored. I concede that a lot of significant events and trends in history were made possible by groups of people. Nevertheless the famous few people are the leaders of the history who attribute more during the process of the history.
Admittedly, the history was created by distinct groups of people. At times distinct groups of people played a more pivotal role than famous few people. They built the building which we live in, made the products in quotidian life and all of those could not be done just by famous few people. As the head of Epidemiology at my university even said: " I can't do anything if there is only me worked here- that is, most of daily job was successfully finished by all persons in my department. So everything goes well and everything is improved day by day."
On the other hand, the famous few individuals played more important roles in significant historical events than the common people did. They were as the leaders who took in charge of the main historical events so that a new era came. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, led the Union during the Civil War to destroy the unjust laws in the south of America and liberated the black slaves. Although a lot of people in that era don't think it is just that black persons were as slaves, they have no idea how to emancipate them. That was the leader-Abraham Lincoln made the important decision and won the war. Profound scientific inventions and discoveries of the past are nearly all attributable not to forgettable groups of people but to certain key individuals. Thomas Edison invented bulb which turn to be the derivation of today's illumination and digital and electronic era. Definitely that could not be done by groups of people.
Furthermore, the author did not give the exact meaning of "too much emphasis on individuals”. In my point of view, we should pay some attention to the famous few individual who brought the new era and invented the new things which made our lives became more and more convenient and we lived in the more beautiful environment. The famous few individuals’ merits and achievements should be memorized and we need to think about carefully why they could do the significant events.
To sum up, the history is made by very normal people who have lived in it, yet it sparkles because of those famous few. It is true that some important and significant events and trends in history could not be recorded not for those famous few individuals. These significant few will still dominate the study of the history behind groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten.
