TOPIC: ARGUMENT37 - Woven baskets characterized by a particular distinctive pattern have previously been found only in the immediate vicinity of the prehistoric village of Palea and therefore were believed to have been unique to the Palean people. Recently, however, archaeologists discovered such a "Palean" basket in Lithos, an ancient village across the Brim River from Palea. The Brim River is very deep and broad, and so the ancient Paleans could only have crossed it by boat, but there is no evidence that the Paleans had boats. And boats capable of carrying groups of people and cargo were not developed until thousands of years after the Palean people disappeared. Moreover, Paleans would have had no need to cross the river-the woods around Palea are full of nuts, berries, and small game. It follows that the so-called Palean baskets were not unique to Palea.

In this argument, the author advocates that the so-called Palean baskets were not unique to Palea. To justify this claim, the author cites the evidence that archaeologists discovered such a "Palean" basket in Lithos. The author also cites various other evidences to reason this projection that Palean people had no possibility and necessity to go to that remote village. Although the argument seems reasonable at first glance, it is in fact ill-conceived.

To begin with, there is no persuasive evidence to justify that Paleans had no access to arrive at Lithos. First, even if no evidence showing that the Paleans had boats, it does not indicate that they had never used boats. Also, instead of large boats, people can across the river by small boats. Moreover, although the Brim River---which separates Palea from Lithos---is very deep and broad nowadays, it can not confirm that things remain exactly the same as previous times. Perhaps the river is not that deep and wide and people can swim across it. Thus, it is hasty to judge that the Paleans were not able to reach the village across the river.

Furthermore, the author unwarrantedly assumes that the Paleans had no need to go to Lithos since Palea are now full of nuts, berries, and small game. Similar as the flaw the author committed about the condition of the Brim River, we can not make sure if Palea was exactly as rich as present times. Even if Palea has not changed a lot, it is entirely possible that population in the previous time was so large that Palean people had to go to Lithos for extra food. Also Lithos might be rich of special resources like gold in the old times, which could attract numerous Palean people to go there. If any of these assumptions are substantiated, it will seriously weaken the author's claim.

Additionally, we can not exclude other probable approaches in which the Palean baskets could be brought to Lithos. Trade, tourism and other activities among villagers could also contribute to the circulation of the distinctive basket. Moreover, even if Palean people had no access to across the river, it is highly possible that villagers from Lithos went to Palea and brought the basket back to Lithos.

In sum, the conclusion reached in this argument is invalid and misleading. To strengthen this argument, the author should rule out every possible approach that the basket could be circulated. Moreover, the author should provide more persuasive evidence that there's no access and necessity for the Paleans to go to Lithos.

Inthis argument, the author advocates that the so-called Palean basketswere not unique to Palea. To justify this claim, the author cites theevidence that archaeologists discovered such a "Palean" basket inLithos. The author also cites various other evidences to reason thisprojection that Palean people had no possibility and necessity to go tothat remote village. Although the argument seems reasonable at firstglance, it is in fact ill-conceived.

Tobegin with, there is no persuasive evidence to justify that Paleans hadno access to arrive at Lithos. First, even if no evidence showing thatthe Paleans had boats, it does not indicate that they had never usedboats. Also, instead of large boats, people can across the river bysmall boats(这句有问题,既然题目说boats capable of carryinggroups of people and cargo,并非排除了小船的可能,只是说能承载人和货物的船还为成形,个人觉得可以这样:船可能早在P部落就有了,只是考古学家还没有发现而已--其实这在考古界还是挺寻常的,总有未知的历史在等着人们去挖掘). Moreover, although the Brim River---which separates Paleafrom Lithos---is very deep and broad nowadays, it can not confirm thatthings remain exactly the same as previous times. Perhaps the river isnot that deep(为什么河可能之前不宽的呢?给个合理的解释阐述下吧) and wide and people can swim across it. Thus, it is hastyto judge that the Paleans were not able to reach the village across theriver.

Furthermore, the author unwarrantedly assumes that the Paleans had no need to go toLithos since Palea are now full of nuts, berries, and small game.Similar as the flaw the author committed about the condition of theBrim River, we can not make sure if Palea was exactly as rich(rich? Even if Palea has not changed a lot, it is entirelypossible that population in the previous time was so large that Paleanpeople had to go to Lithos for extra food. Also Lithos might be rich ofspecial resources like gold in the old times, which could attractnumerous Palean people to go there. If any of these assumptions aresubstantiated, it will seriously weaken the author's claim.

Additionally,we can not exclude other probable approaches in which the Paleanbaskets could be brought to Lithos. Trade, tourism and other activitiesamong villagers could also contribute to the circulation of thedistinctive basket. Moreover, even if Palean people had no access toacross the river, it is highly possible that villagers from Lithos wentto Palea and brought the basket back to Lithos(这一段的阐述是基于两个部落间存在来往的基础上,但是这里你的论述容易产生歧义:1)不能排除别的可能->2)因为有贸易旅游等的可能->3)l城可能有船可以到p部落;2的存在是基于3,所以将3放在最后来解释就会有问题,其次,关于船的攻击,其实B1已涉及到,但是那时没讲清,这里再赘述,就显得逻辑链有点乱了;其实可以把这一点和B1并成一段).

Insum, the conclusion reached in this argument is invalid and misleading. To strengthen this argument, the author should rule out every possibleapproach that the basket could be circulated. Moreover, the authorshould provide more persuasive evidence that there's no access andnecessity for the Paleans to go to Lithos.
