Issue 真是个大麻烦呢。

1个人的穿着打扮能够反映态度和兴趣。但是，人们有时被要求按一定方式打扮，医生，律师，企业员工等。个人的社会地位也会影响其着装。
2社会的价值可以从人们的外貌和行为（多种选择-自由开放）中看出端倪，但是，不能代表全部，毕竟价值是很深层的东西。
Nowadays, Individuals live in a society with high productivity, provisioning abundant consumption goods. Also, as modern society becomes more and more plural and open, people are allowed to choose what they want according to their own attitudes and interests without interruptions, more or less indicating the general social respects towards individual will and freedom. Based on it,  the statement above has correctly identify the relationship between the way people look, dress and act and their attitudes or interests, and the relationship between a society's ideas and values and its people's appearance and behavior.

Indeed, the way a person how to dress himself/herself, how to look like and how to behave in a society will conceal his/her attitudes and interests. For instance if a young man wears T-shirt, sneaker everyday and has an extraordinary preference on jeans with exaggerating holes, then he is obviously different from others same age people, who always in common white shirt fixed with smooth ties and a pair of old-fashioned leather shoes. It is accordingly to reason that the former man is more interested in fashion and has a more causal life attitude, at least comparing with the latter one. More importantly, all too often we have observed that how some people act in a controversial way from other people will act. For instance, many old people in China are too afraid to take a fight due to frequent air crashes reported on Television, their entertainment are something as getting together with couple of friends to have a unpressured talk. However the younger generation are eager at seeking for challenge , they get excited about jumping from a 200 meter high tower with a single flexible rope, and they save time to go outdoors, hiking or climbing. The way of treating danger and challenge varies distinguishingly between the two generation clearly speaks they have different attitudes and interests.

Nevertheless, what we should consider is a undeniable fact that people in most cases are required to dress, look and act, which certainly cannot reflect people's true thoughts. Society are abound of such examples. In companies, employees are required to dress monotonous uniform in order to present a unity image of the company, though many of them prefer colorful causal clothes. It is the same that during work time, they all incline to keep professional smile, immediately and skillfully handle every cases, even these are disgusting them occasionally. In conclusion, people with different jobs have different clothing demands, white doctors, long hair rock and roll singers, are all typical images of certain group of people.

As mentioned above, it is admitted that present individuals are capable of dressing themselves according to their wills, and they are willing to behave conventionally and originally during their leisure time only they desire. I believe these phenomena rightly represent the value of today's society, which has changed dramatically to the extent of that individual wills and freedom are respected and protected. Besides it is individuals that make up society, so there is sufficient reasons to believe that their appearance and behavior can probably show the society's values and ideas. In ancient China, people lived carefully and barely dream because that society was controlled by a despotic empire. Unlikely, citizens in Republic of China are fulfilled with passion and dream and they insist thriving to make dreams come true. However, there are some efforts should take to precisely learn the picture of society, for which is an issue so complex and complicated that without sufficient examination we are easily misunderstand it. Hence, together with the observing the appearance and behavior of its people, carefully learning the history and current culture, which mainly contained in art works, literature and theories, of a society are indispensible to take into account. Only by these means can we obtain a better and more correct understanding about the society we live in.

In a nutshell, it is a good way to get insights of individuals' attitude and personal interests by looking their behavior and dressing style, and it is also an excellent method to clarify an abstract society by observing its people specific appearance and action. However, what should bear in mind is that simple dependence on it are not enough to totally understand a person and a society.

Humanity is a kind of species which should live with each other and communicate with each other frequently. Thus during the long distance of evolution, humanity developed a kind of ability that they cannot help leaking out what they are thinking and interesting by their action, while they can also understand and communicate with others by observing the way people look, dress, and act.  
It is always said that” the eyes is the window of one’s mind”. From where one is looking we can identify what he is interesting or whether there is something he want to conceal. For example, it is a common sense that when a person telling a lie to another one, he may try to avoid to look the one’s eyes instead he tends to look to other place in order to conceal his guilty. Meanwhile if others can catch the slightly abnormal appearance, they will know the person may be telling a lie. As a matter of fact, scientists as already design several kinds of machines to identify whether a person is telling a lie basing on this theory.  
Moreover, the way a person dress is also an important way to reflect his interest and attitudes. As we all know, dress cloth is not only for keep warm, but also for beautiful, for appearing different. Thus the standard and attitudes a person hold to judge beauty will embody on the type he dresses. A professor of university may think austerity is a good habit, so he will not wear so abnormal, meanwhile a raking rod player may think attractive is beautiful so he will wear some kinds of strange suits.
What’s more, the way people act also can reveals their attitudes and interests. For example if a man is always regarding international news, we can infer that he must be interested in international affair. Or if a man is always watching sports live, we can infer he must be interested in sports. Because we have the experience that what a person interests in, what he will always do.
However, someone may gainsay that in many case people may be restricted by environment that we cannot identify his interests and attitudes by the way people look, dress, and act. Such as when a worker working in a factory, he will be asked to dress on the work suit though he doesn’t like to dress it. In this condition, though some information such as the interests and attitudes will be covered but other information will revealed such as the occupation of the man, the level of the man in his factory and so on. Meanwhile we can still know his interesting and attitudes when he after his work. So the way people look, dress, and act reveal their attitudes and interests are no doubtable.
To give extended application, a society is made up by its people, as the same way, the most people’s ideas and values makes up the society's ideas and values. For example, if most people in a society regard austerity as a great value, then the society which is made up by these people will hold the value that people should be austere.
In other aspect, the society's ideas and values is a very ambiguous concept for the ideas and values of a society is not a concrete exist. So the society's ideas and values will eventually embody on each person’s action of the society. For example, after the When Chuan seismic occurred, many people in China donate money to help these people who suffered from the tragedy. And many volunteers devote themselves to the disaster area without consider their safety. Form is we can get the conclusion that one of the values of the China society is to help each other.
In sum, the way people look, dress, and act can tell what they are interesting and their attitudes. Since a society is made by people, the appearance and behavior of its people can reflect the society’s ideas and values.

How to study a society’s ideas and values is much concerned to a point where a wide range of discussion has been aroused. Some people maintain that it is the way people look, dress, and act reveals their attitudes and interests. That seems like a really easy way.
Nevertheless, in weighing up both the prospective benefits and potential risks, I side on the opposite. The statement is so naive that it ignores the complexity of the matter.

To begin with, that method is unpractical. The outward action and appearance can serve as a key to discover what people think only when individuals act in simple cases. As we all know, we acts to achieve what we want, no matter complicated or simple our methods are. Unfortunately, we can barely tell what the goal, in other words inner thinking, is when it comes to complex things happening every day. For example, we eat when hungry, drink when thirsty, and take a rest when tired. In such cases, we can tell what the ideas are behind the behaviors. Yet, when someone dress in a really strange costume and go to the bus station, what can we get from that odd thing? Is he out of mind, or just on his way to a party? That is just a thing about a single purpose. What is more, it turns out to be more unpredictable when thinking about values and ideas of a person. Let alone find values of a society made up of millions of individuals.

Moreover, that is not the only way to learn about a society effectively and efficiently. Other factors make it possible to find what a society really thinks. We can take everyday media for instance. Media shows a major moral standard of the society by judging what is positive or what is negative, and then broadcast. In order to gain profits, they must carter to the society's values and ideas, which be demonstrated by audience rating. That is one of the better way we have in similar researches.

In addition, such definition runs the risk of driving the chase after the truth about the society's inner thoughts to a dead end, instead of indicating more about a society. Putting too much focus on the outer appearance and behavior can make the research superficial. The appearance is misleading in many cases. More tellingly, what about a study made from behavior in a society where people love to make false impressions each other? The result must be ridiculously wrong. The method does not make everywhere.

All in all, I reckon it is the conclusive consideration that should take place for the research on a society's inner ideas rather than judging only by what people seem to do. Society is such a complex places that even the best solution can sometimes lead to certain injustice conclusion. However, a more effective way is to find some different individuals with distinct and representative characters first, to do really deep research, and at last to generalize a conclusion from those facts. That makes more sense, but there is still way to go.

Culture is a complex term that consists of many things. At the base of culture, one could find people who live in social groups and share a way of living which separates them from other human groups. To a large extent, people’s appearance and behavior can tell much about their society’s culture including the society’s ideas and values.

It has been observed that during the progressing of societies and the continuous evolvement of civilizations that the appearance and behaviors of the human beings have too significantly changed. From the Stone Age till the Internet Age, people have always dressed and acted in a particular way that revealed their deep held values and attitudes. In Stone Age, the Cave Man depending on his primitive instinct believed that he must take advantage of the surroundings to support his surviving in order to survive and guarantee the safety of the other individuals So, he hunted animals, an action that made to supply the group with food. He also dressed in the animals' fur to protect himself from the inclement weather. It is proved that early human beings had acted and dressed in the way reflecting their primitive thoughts. The Cave Man with his innate instinct was interested in satisfying his very basic needs which was the symbol of a part of their society’s culture.

With the advancement of civilization, the culture of human beings has also changed and become more developed. The human beings are now dressing and behaving in various ways that distinctly reveal the particular of each society. For example, if we observe the way in which the Kuwaiti people are dressed and acted, this would clearly reflect the values and beliefs of the people in this country. The people in Kuwait are noticed to dress in neat and dandy clothes. The ladies in Kuwait love to dress in expensive and stylish clothes. They are famous for their interests in tracking fashion and searching for new styles and anything that has a great vogue. The men also are interested in having the newest styles of technological amenities. They are most interested in mobile phones and stylish vehicles. The appearance and behavior of Kuwaiti peoples strongly reflect their ideas and values. They hold a deep opinion that everyone has to live an enjoyable and luxurious life.

However, ideas and values can not only be judged by appearance and behavior. The ideas and values are a culture for a society and they cannot be easily observed unless people get further into the society by spending a long period time there. Those facts which observed from the appearance of a society can just be some fake evidences which may lead people into a wrong understanding about the society. For example, those people who came to Hong Kong for the first time may surprisingly notice that most waiters who serve in small restaurants which located in both sides of the streets are old people who are over 50 or even 60, people may get misunderstood that Hong Kong people do not respect old people. However, it is because people who run those small restaurants are just the waiters themselves or their relatives. By serving the customers themselves they can reduce the costs of running restaurants and earn more money for themselves. In short, only by the appearance and behavior of the society, the culture of a society cannot be comprehensively judged.

To sum up, it is undeniable that the appearance and behavior of individuals can patently reflect their deep beliefs and attitudes and to some extent can reveal a society’s ideas and values. However, we should also take into account the exceptions that sometimes appearance and behavior of people will cheat our eyes. Only with comprehensive observation, deep thinking and insightful understanding can we touch the inside culture and values of a society.

It is said that the first seven seconds when you meet someone determines the way they think of you, i.e. that’s when the first impression comes into being. In that seven seconds your dressing style, speech you choose and the way you behave can attribute to your assumed character. Some, on the other hand, claims that it is nothing but snap judgment that is unwarranted. This controversial topic goes further as to whether a society’s ideology can be judged by the appearance of its people.

True as it is, the appearance and behavior speak much about a nation’s beliefs and values. For instance, the fact that women in Arabian countries invariably wear veils outdoors indicates the belief that women’s social status is relatively lower than that of men, and women are considered to stay inside at home with men dominating the work market. Another case in point is the dress code in every work place all around the world. Employees, no matter in developed countries or underdeveloped ones, are required to wear formal dress, say suits, to work rather than T-shirts and sandals because appearance does affect the attitude people hold.

However, people’s behavior is not necessarily the only indicator of a society’s ideas and values. It would be unwise to judge a person merely by how he dresses. As is known to all, the greatest brains tend to care more about spiritual issues other than their appearance; thus it is by no means uncommon to find great poets or thinkers poorly dressed like the homeless. The rich inner side does not need exterior ornaments to look graceful, thus cannot be determined by seemingly poor appearance. Accordingly, a nation’s belief may not be in line with the actual behavior of its residents. China, to illustrate, is now presenting a signature propaganda phrase “harmonious society” to show it’s on the way to prosperity. However, the gap between the wealthy and destitute is increasingly widening, which gives rise to various social problems such as crimes and high unemployment. In the final analysis, the appearance is a contributing factor of the nature to certain degree. But it would be unreasonable to rely entirely on the appearance to assess essence.
