16."Although many people think thatthe luxuries and conveniences of contemporary life are entirely harmless, infact, they actually prevent people from developing into truly strong andindependent individuals."

1. Luxuries and conveniences of life reallymake some people feel happier.
2. Many modern people do not realize thatthey are deprived of the necessities of our life.
(1) We become less capable.
(2) We have lost our freedom to someextent.
3. We should try to get rid of too muchmodernized tools.

===============================================================================
Technology trends have enriched our dailylife and bring much conveniences and luxuries to us human beings.Unfortunately, too much people are living under the illusion that themodernized life can surely make humans strong and independent. Even if one whodo not know from concrete examples that modern life deprived us from thenecessities of individual, one could deduce it from general principles.

We should, without any doubt, admit thatmodern life provides us individuals with great convenience and pleasure.Private cars save us a lot of time on the way to work; televisions enable us toabsorb various kind of information just at home; computers simplify our dailywork by solving difficult problems automatically. All these modern toolscontribute to simplify our daily life and satisfy our endless desires. In fact,hardly can we imagine a world without so many useful modern facilities providedby our contemporary life.

Ironically, when we modern people areenjoying the comfort and banal luxury of our daily life, most of us haveignored the fact that we have already been deprived of the necessities of ouressential life. To prove my perspective, we should first get down tofundationals and agree that the real cores being chased in human being's lifeis capacity and independent.

Mankinds change the planet by enrichingtheir capacities. Our great ancestors invent speaking to increasing our knowledgeby way of communicating with others. The invention of science give the processa tremendous jump since from that time knowledge can be collected according toa systematic plan. Knowledge then helps increasing our capacities, whicheventually make crucial contribution to the establishing of our newly world. Ina word, thanks to mankind’s' skill of solving all kinds of harsh problems, wemodern people have the right to enjoy our beautiful life. Unfortunately, ourbeautiful life may prevent us from developing into truly strong. Just thinkthat how many times we sit in front of television doing nothing but stuffingfood into your mouth? And how many times we are waiting in front of computerfor an analysis report of a difficult problem? Though hard to believe, I haveto note that we modern people are becoming lazier and even lose many importantskills, not to mention that developing into truly strong by taking advantage ofcontemporary life.

Apart from losing skills, we are alsofacing the dilemma of losing independent. We human beings have fought againstthe nature to get independence for tens of thousands years. Right now, we seemto possess the independence. Unluckily, we have already lost our independentindividuals silently. Think about our cell phone. Almost everyone needs the cellphone in that we have the demand to get in touch with others. At the same time,we also give up the right to get independence: we are got in touch with byothers. Several times, we have received unwanted phone calls while we are atrest, and more often enough, we are "disturbed" by our families andfriends. It seems that we are living under others' lives but not ourselves'.

What we should tackle is the problem thathow to treat our modern life, or from another perspective, what shall we do tobetter use the science and technology emerged in the contemporary society? Asis to me, contemporary life is a two-edged weapon which can be used equally forgood or evil. Could any spectacle, for instance, be more grimly whimsical thanthat some people are taking advantage of the convenience of the life to improvethe efficiency of their daily work so as to generate more profits while closeat hand, others are addicted to the luxury side of their life and making theirlife lose its real meaning? We have to ask ourselves seriously before enjoyingour easy lives: are we becoming lazier and foolisher than ever? If the answeris yes, actions should be taken to get rid of some kind of modern facilitieswhich we do not need indeed.

In sum, modern life, to some extent, reallyprevent people from developing into truly strong and independent individuals.Yet progresses can be made to make better use of our life and improve ourpersonal qualities. In general, enjoying our contemporary life but notindulging in it.
