Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
教育只有被专门设计来满足每一个学生个人需求和兴趣的时候才是真正的教育。


提纲:
1.
真正的教育必须尽可能满足每个学生个人需求和兴趣。

但是,考虑成本,通用式的教育也是必不可少的。学生的特性和需求是多种多样的,教育成本有限,完全满足可能不切实际。

大众教育与少数少年班,天才结合的方式的值得推荐的。

It is very important to meet as many as possible individual needs and interests of each student for education.

However, students’ needs and interests are so various that meeting all of them is impossible since the limit of human and material resources.

In order to make a good balance between the cost and the benefit, it’s a good idea to provide both traditional education and specially designed education for students.




The speaker asserts that education must be specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interest of each student. If the goal can be achieved, I would support the speaker's idea. However, considering the limited of human and material resources, I don't think the speaker's assumption is practicable.

Firstly, it is important to meet as more possible individual needs and interests of each student for education. H.B.Adams, an American Historian, once said 'A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.' Here, the teacher is can be regarded as the symbol on behalf of education. A right education can make a talent while a wrong may destroy the individual. However, traditional education system is not able to give every student the most appropriate education. Take Einstein and Newton for examples, instead of getting specially designed educations, both the two great physicians were regarded as inferior students in primary school. So, it should be emphasized to make education meeting more students' individual needs and interests.

However, students’ needs and interests are so various that meeting all of them is impossible since the limit of human and material resources. Different students have diversified individual needs and interests. And even to one student, it is difficult in some times to find his or her needs and interest for a teacher, let alone a teacher usually teaches a dozen or dozens of students. Designing a special education is an expensive business, which involves many affairs such as compiling textbooks, training teachers, creating corresponding selective talents systems and so on. That may explain why Einstein and Newton were regarded as inferior students in primary school as above mentioned.

In order to make a good balance, it's a good idea to provide traditional education and specifically designed education both for students. On one hand, traditional education system is designed by lots of education specialists, and is sustained improved for a long time. Practice has proved it is scientific to some extent. Therefore it is still one of the best choices for most of students. On the other hand, specifically designed education is also a necessary complement for some have special individual needs and interests such as geniuses in certain fields. A good example is the education of athletes, coaches find some students have special talents in or be interested with certain sports. They will give these students have special talents in or be interested with certain sports. They will give these students professional training, and finally let them get a good development in corresponding aspects. Another example is some young geniuses in some subjects such as physics or mathematic and so on, they can be selected by competition of those subjects and get specially designed education. However, these educations may be only focused on a little of fields for the limit of objective condition. With the development of society, the situation may be improved, and more and more such special educations may be designed in order to meet more students' needs and interests.

In the final analysis, as a necessary complement for traditional education system, some special designed educations are indispensable. However, it is impossible to design education to meet every student's individual needs and interests in present situation. What we can do is only focusing on some primary aspects to educate students, and try our best to meet as more as possible students' individual needs and interests in current situation.
