TOPIC: ISSUE184 - "It is a grave mistake to theorize before one has data."
WORDS: 388
TIME: 00:45:00
DATE: 2010-7-12 15:57:57

Is it a grave mistake when theorizing before one has data? First, I agree that before ample dates have been understood one is likely to err from the right path whether in science or education even cause grave mistakes. Yet, imagination is also necessary.
To begin with, in scientific realm, 2000 years ago there was a great scientist in the world named Aristotle who created a false classic theory- the heavier it was, the faster it falls down which was pulled down by another famous scientist Newton by a pop and famous test. Consider that Aristotle created his common theory in dynamics without a lot of dates which caused a grave mistake and funned everyone behind. That is to say, before one has data, it is not a good idea to theorize. Yet, there are still success cases presently, for example, an apple created the law of universal gravitation. But the fact is that it is the truth itself, human just found it instead of creating it.
In addition, people prefer to theorize after mastering vast dates. Another example came from educational field. Nowadays, there are many theses currently, and all of them have a common points-quote a lot of data to promote conviction of their work. In other words, whether a thesis is convincing depends on its data that is why when we accomplished a paper, we had to link our references. Without reasonable evidence, the theory became lack of persuasion. And we had to concede that when data support its topic at the same time it also can examine that topic.
And what’s more, it is necessary to theorize with imagination. Because without imagination, only data can not attain a theory. As we all know, Einstein a worldwide famous physicist with Relativity through playing violin and painting to cultivate his imagination. He said art can enhance his imagination which helps him to improve his ability of learning. Hawking-another famous person devoted himself in astronomy and physical field, whose work is not fiction but filled with imagination and dialectical points which let them more vivid.
In sum, we create a topic by imaging and examine it by data. With data and imagination, a theory becomes more convincing and vivid. On the contrary, though some special cases still present, it is a not a good idea to theorize.

That is to say, before one has data, it is not a good idea to theorize. Yet, there are still success cases presently, for example, an apple created the law of universal gravitation. But the fact is that it is the truth itself, human just found it instead of creating it.(Good example, but where is data? May be far away from the issue. 建议你用更明确的话语来表达你的意思)

And we had to concede that when data support its topic at the same time it also can examine that topic(这个also的用意我不是很明白,或者说应该把when去掉).

And what’s more, it is necessary to theorize with imagination. Because without imagination, only data can not attain a theory. As we all know, Einstein a worldwide famous physicist with Relativity through playing violin and painting to cultivate his imagination.
