I agree with the speaker to the extent that people are making choices every day, and mostly there will be choices, more or less. We should face the absence of choice optimistically and objectively.
Mostly, people are facing choices, and the absence of choice is a circumstance that is rare. That's because people have free will and space, and the developing society provides people with all kinds of opportunities. It turns out to up to only a person's individual effort that have a influence up on whether he or her shall be successful or not. Since our government empower a child to go to school and also gives him or her choices like apply for admission to a collage or a position in a company. It seems that we always have choices to compete and win.
It is true that people always complain that their current situations leave them no choice and in most cases there are choices for them. The Pursuit of Happyness is the name of a famous movie, which I have watched several times. There are so many difficulties and obstacle want to make us give up, but if you keep your faith you will find ways to "pursuit happiness", like what Will Smith tells us. Sometimes people say that there is not choice because there is no choice they like, but not really a circumstance of the absence of choice. That is to say, having a chance or not, not always rests on the objective environment and sometimes personal power plays the leading role.
I have to admit there are elements in our society that are depriving of people's choices. Poverty in Africa deprives children choices to go to school, financial crisis perishes small companies' choices to grow in strength, closed - door policies and anti-foreignism keep countries far away from choices to develop. There are elements of unfairness in our society and people are not always powerful enough to smash that.
Even reluctant to admit, there is circumstance that people may encounter a completely absence of choice. But that is not always frustrating and desperate, on the other side, too many chances is not always a good thing.
In some cases we have to learn to give up. There are people have deciophobia, that is fear of choosing. The marital problem comes to be a head-scratching puzzlement to youth of marriageable age and also to their parents. It is a puzzle of choice in the sense that they cannot decide who is optimal for them to get married.
In summary, people who are claiming that they have no choice is not always facing a circumstance without choice.
However, there are some reasons deprive of people's choices and there are people who are stripped of all choices, in some cases the absence of choice is not too bad, and too many chances may be not a good thing.
